Ex-Warriors GM Bob Myers recently opened up about the Draymond Green-Jordan Poole revelation. A leaked video from the team’s practice session that shook the NBA world. While Myers recently revealed that the management couldn’t track down the person who leaked the video, he also opened up about his preparation for dealing with such a crisis in the same podcast.

In the latest episode of The Old Man and The Three, former NBA star JJ Reddick asked Myers, a million-dollar question. JJ asked if the 4x NBA Champ had prior preparation for crisis management before signing up for the job in 2012. In response, the 49-year-old dropped a revelation. The team’s state at the time of his entry blindsided him. Speaking of the team, “Nobody cared, it was one of the worst bottom five franchises,” and revealed it didn’t require him to have prior experience in handling a crisis.

Bob Myers further joked about how he expected to drive to work in an old VW bus, but it turned out to be driving in a Ferrari. When he joined the team, the team was valued at around $450 million and by the time he retired, the team valuation grew multifold and became the richest franchise in the league. Currently, the Golden State Warriors are valued at $8.3 billion, as per Bleacher Report

Myers further stated that it would be difficult to maintain a clean image for a franchise with immense popularity. He added, “It’s never clean, it’s never easy, it’s never perfect. There’s all kinds of bumps on the road.” Moments later, the duo engaged in a conversation about Draymond Green’s leaked video. The media attention took over the Dubs’ last season when a video of Green allegedly punching Poole surfaced on the internet world. Speaking of finding the person who leaked the video, Myers said, “We couldn’t pinpoint anybody… We looked, we tried a third party. We couldn’t.”

Aftermath of the Draymond Green revelation

Days after Green allegedly punched Poole, the management announced that the star power forward was fined for the incident. Moreover, Green also apologized to the rising star. However, it didn’t end the trouble for the struggling franchise in the 2022-23 season.

Several reports suggested that the incident affected the camaraderie within the side. Poole eventually moved out and joined the Washington Wizards. The Dubs ended their season in the second round, losing to the Lakers. There were multiple reports of Poole and Green arguing at the bench. Moreover, it resembled the tussle between Green and Kevin Durant in the 2018-19 season.
