Savannah James, the wife of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, has been with her partner since her high school days. Now, two of her sons, Bronny and Bryce, are the ones in their college and high school days, respectively. Looking from a parents’ perspective, the 37-year-old seems to be gaining more knowledge about how this current generation handles certain situations and issues differently than how she did in her teens. One of those situations is the all-time classic ‘Birds and Bees. Having gone through teenage pregnancy, Savannah expressed her gladness that the same is becoming less of an issue for the modern generation.

Mrs James released another episode of her recently launched podcast, ‘Everybody’s Crazy’, with co-host April McDaniels. The duo went into detail discussing the issue of losing one’s virginity. After joking that the realistic age to engage in the action for the first time should be “50”, Savannah later stated that one should be old enough to understand the responsibilities that come along with it. Furthermore, she believes facing such a situation is different for a girl and a boy, as the latter would take it as a rite of passage towards ‘manhood.’ According to Savannah, however, such thoughts are far from the minds of today’s youth.

“(Gen Alpha) are not prioritizing s*x in their lives as much as previous generations did,” said Savannah. “So, I’m like, amen for all of us who got college and high school age kids”.

This is not the first time Mrs James has chosen to converse on the issue of having relations as teenagers. During an earlier episode of the same podcast, she and McDaniels touched base on how it has been an issue for the most recent generations to have a conversation about the ‘birds and bees’. Savannah herself revealed that she never had the “s*x talk with her parents. When McDaniels asked if Bronny would have been a part of this world if she ever had that talk, she answered, “Probably. Savannah’s teen pregnancy is something that is a distant memory for her and the NBA All-Time Leading Scorer today. However, when it happened, it came up as a life-changing scenario for the couple.

LeBron James assured Savannah that her pregnancy was not going to slow him down

Savannah was 17 when she found out that she was expecting Bronny. LeBron was 18 at that time and had just kicked off his rookie season with the NBA. During an interview, she recalled that as she was working up the courage to tell LeBron, the big question on her mind was, “What’s going to happen to his career?”. However, once the news was out, the rookie would go on to say a few words that would set the trajectory for the rest of their life.

“(LeBron) said, ‘It’s not going to slow me down, and it’s not going to slow you down. We’re going to keep doing what we have to do’” revealed Savannah. Like his wife, LeBron’s mother also got pregnant young. The only difference was that his father was never a part of the NBA player’s life. This may be the reason why he wanted to be there for Savannah and be a better father figure than his own dad.

The future went on to show us that the couple, indeed, did not slow down. Twenty years later, LeBron James has set numerous records, won four NBA championships, and is currently considered to be the greatest basketball player of the modern generation. Along with being a podcaster, Savannah is also an entrepreneur who’s involved in several business ventures. Besides Bronny (19), the couple also share two other children named Bryce (16) and Zhuri (9).
