The Nets’ season seems to be spiraling into a nightmare as injuries continue to pile up. The latest blow came on Sunday when Ben Simmons suffered a left knee contusion during the game against the Orlando Magic. And if that wasn’t enough, Ziaire Williams also exited the matchup with a knee issue after a concerning collision.

With both players joining the injury list, Brooklyn fans are holding their breath – and their patience…

Simmons, putting in solid minutes in the first half, stayed glued to the bench after halftime before being officially ruled out in the fourth quarter. The forward tallied 12 minutes of play before his left knee contusion sidelined him for good from the game. Given that Monday’s game against the Chicago Bulls is part of a back-to-back set, the Aussie’s availability seems highly doubtful.

Meanwhile, Williams’ night also ended prematurely following a worrisome moment late in the game. After an injury midway through the fourth, the 23-year-old was seen limping off the court before heading to the locker room. While the extent of his injury remains unclear, the sight alone was enough to send shivers through Brooklyn’s already nervous fanbase. And why was that?

Because of the latest injuries, the Nets’ roster now resembles a medical ward.

Simmons and Williams are just two names on an ever-growing list that already includes key contributors like Cam Thomas, Day’Ron Sharpe, Dorian Finney-Smith, Noah Clowney, and veteran Bojan Bogdanović.

Needless to say, fans flooded social media with concerns echoing in their words.

Ben Simmons and Ziaire Williams’ injury has fans lamenting the Nets’ misfortune

With the injury bug causing concern and frustration, fan reactions on X also range from heartfelt prayers to outright disappointment. Take this guy, for instance. Prayers up for Ziaire Williams…. That was a nasty fall the Magic player had on his knee….,”  they wrote, effectively capturing the anxiety surrounding Williams’ injury.

Ziaire’s troubles began when Goga Bitadze, scrambling for a rebound, fell awkwardly onto his knee near the basket. The sight of him limping off the court was a gut punch for Nets fans, many of whom were already reeling from Simmons’ exit earlier in the game.

Sometimes simplicity says it all. Like this fan. “I hope Ziaire Williams is good.” Short and straightforward, this remark echoes the majority hope of Nets fans who don’t want to see yet another player sidelined. Particularly, with the team already struggling to keep their core players on the court.

However, moving to Ben Simmons, it’s a sad case of déjà vu. “Ben Simmons’ knees have failed him,” followed by a defeated-face emoji, perfectly encapsulates the disappointment surrounding the 28-year-old’s continuous struggles with injuries. Despite moments of promise this season, the Aussie’s knees remain a persistent issue, forcing fans to temper their expectations yet again.

For another fan, disbelief was the only reaction left. “?”

Even so, this final comment from a fan notes the bittersweet reality many Nets fans are coming to realize. “I really was rooting for Ben Simmons to get back to his AllStar status … like wholeheartedly—- but he’s just not that guy anymore … well at least not a starter.” Once a rising star with limitless potential, Simmons now finds himself struggling to maintain a starter-level presence.

While fans may still cheer him on, there’s an undercurrent of resignation about his ability to fully bounce back. Brooklyn’s season clearly hangs in the balance. But fans are holding out hope for better days ahead. However, as this injury list grows, it’s clear that frustration and concern are already reaching their limits.
