Three months into the season, only one thing pops into our head, “Is Orlando Magic cursed?” Well, no one really knows the answer to it. After just playing 5 games, the team’s centerpiece Paolo Banchero injured his right oblique and hasn’t returned yet. Following that, Franz Wagner, who shouldered the team’s offense for the next 20 games, also tore his oblique, and more importantly Moe Wagner sustained a season-ending injury. In this lineup, the Magic side has a new entrant, Jalen Suggs.
Tonight, the 4th seeding Magic took on the Toronto Raptors in an evenly poised match-up. Despite not having the team’s offensive aggressors, the Florida side continued to put up a tough fight. In that process, the team’s starting guard Suggs suffered a scary non-contact injury. During the 3rd minute mark of the second quarter, the point guard held his back during a defensive possession and fell on the floor.

The game went on for a while before the refs blew the whistle. The medical staff rushed to the spot while Jalen Suggs was screaming in agonizing pain. Moments later, when his teammates helped to get him on his foot, the 23-year-old couldn’t tolerate the pain. So, the staff had to roll in a wheelchair to help the star off the court. Magic players stood there worried, watching their teammate get into the tunnel. Meanwhile, fans took over the online comments to express their grief. Let’s find out what fans have in their minds.
Fans show raw emotions following Jalen Suggs’ scary injury
A concerned fan turned into a doctor instantly after the injury and listed out the reason behind Suggs’ injury. The fan wrote, “Prayers up, I think it could be a bulged disc. That happen to me on the court. It feels like you pulled something and you start seeing stars.” Well, the fan may have gone a bit overboard with their digital diagnosis. The latest update from the team revealed that the star suffered pain because of a back spasm. Nevertheless, the fan’s prayer did work, as it didn’t turn out to be anything serious.

Moving on, a fan asked the burning question, writing, “Magic so unlucky dude like how did he even get hurt from that???” We have already listed the number of players who have gotten injured this season. The team listed six players, including Banchero and Wagner, in the injury report ahead of the game. It will turn into seven now. Speaking of the non-contact injury, it’s totally scary and doesn’t really have any explanation. Right on cue, another fan wrote, “Someone did black magic on magic.”
On a positive note, fans can look at it this way too. Despite the injuries, the team has managed to win games and stay afloat in the top four seeds of the Eastern Conference. So, on a lighter note, someone did counter-black magic on Magic as well. Nevertheless, we aren’t sure either how long the Magic team can hold on to their position. A fan resonating with it, wrote, “Magic starting to become Pelicans East hate to see it.”
The New Orleans Pelicans also have a similar story. The team lost two of their starting frontcourt offensive aggressors Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram early in the season and they are yet to return. Moreover, the latest entrant Dejounte Murray missed 17 games with a broken finger. But unlike the Magic, the Pels didn’t have a promising run, as they settled at the bottom of the point table with a 5-29 record.

Another fan feared that the Magic would have a similar situation, as they wrote, “There goes the play in…..nah but seriously I like Suggs hope he feels better soon.” Currently, the Orlando side has a 21-15 record and will need a collapse to fall below the 10th seed. Fortunately, a back spasm won’t take long to recover. So, we can find Jalen Suggs laced up anytime soon. Will the Magic defeat the odds and make a strong impact this season? Let us know in the comments.
