An alien appeared in New York City on Christmas! But this alien is a feisty one, he dribbles and shoots on the NBA court. He steals the spotlight in a snap and shoots with an accuracy of 47.7%. Brownie points to you if you’ve already guessed Victor Wembanyama as the ‘alien’ of this little story. Of course, he has arrived in NYC to style out his first NBA Christmas (read: for a showdown against the Knicks). But it seems like the cold is getting on his nerves a bit (nah! maybe a lot!).

34 degrees Fahrenheit isn’t suiting Victor Wembanyama. Dressed in all black and pulling a black balaclava over his face, the 20-year-old French prodigy walked into Madison Square Garden. It’s time for the San Antonio Spurs center to play a game on Christmas Day. And his rivals for the day are the home boys, Jalen Brunson and Co.

However, Wemby’s latest drip has thrown social media into a frenzy. They want the New York Knicks to beware of the balaclava-donned alien from San Antonio. But there is a bigger concern revolving around the ticket prices. Precisely for the Spurs vs. Knicks showdown, the fans will have to pay a whopping $382 which is A LOT! Meanwhile, Mavs vs Wolves cost $106, and Nuggets vs  Suns cost only $70.

Therefore, while the Spurs fans are excited about the match-up, they seem to share their thoughts about the prices of the tickets. Thus, the comment sections are flooding with forewarnings for the Knicks, good wishes for Victor Wembanyama, and analysis of the pocket pinches.

Fans weigh in on Victor Wembanyama’s sheisty look and ticket expenses at MSG

What’s your perspective on:

Is Wembanyama's NYC debut worth the $382 ticket, or are fans being ripped off?

Have an interesting take?

“Wemby Pulling up in a sheisty Pray for the Knicks,” Wemby’s fans have already started praying for the Knickerbockers. Especially with the 20-year-old star going all Hatake Kakashi hours before the game, you’ve got to understand that something’s brewing. And knowing what Victor Wembanyama can do on the court despite the Spurs’ tumultuous time this season, KAT & Co. truly need the prayers.

Meanwhile, some fans have noted that: “This is just the Knicks effect. There’s nothing Wemby about it.” Yep, it’s about the tickets, and fans strongly believe that it’s the orange and blue craze, that’s doing the work here. Therefore, even without Victor Wembanyama on the court, the prices would’ve been the same or maybe more, who knows? Now, imagine if instead of Wemby and Chris Paul, New York’s rivals were LeBron and Lakers or Steph and Warriors? Take a bet: $500 a ticket!

Someone said:

“KAT IS READY!!!🔥” Truly, Karl-Anthony Towns is always ready for the on-court action. And since his days began in NYC, he’s changed into a whole new beast. It will be an interesting match-up when the 7’4″ Victory Wembanyama’s wit shows up against KAT’s 7 ft grit. Besides, is there a possibility that MSG will witness another, “New York. New F**king York” celebrating from Towns? Yes.

A fan noted:

The Wemby effect might be more important in TV viewership, not Knicks ticket prices. Just to remind you the league is on a viewership low this season. Therefore, the higher-ups are going to greater extents to revive the interest the fans are losing. Therefore, the audience believes that Victor Wembanyama’s presence on the court would be a boost to TV viewership, however, the ticket prices wouldn’t fluctuate because of the same. As mentioned before, with or without Wemby an NBA game in New York on Christmas means soaring prices.

Sadly, someone in the comments brought back the bitter memories of Victor Wembanyama’s infamous ‘flop’ against the 76ers just a while ago. They wrote,

“He’s ready to flop!” Well, that incident really did unfold some crazy crazy drama on the court at Wells Fargo Center. Andre Drummond’s ejection and comeback after referee Jenna Schroeder’s honest confession. Followed by Wemby’s honest acceptance. Woah! That was a lot going on for one game. And hopefully, history won’t repeat itself at MSG on Dec 25.

Lastly, someone called out the Knicks franchise for the insane ticket prices. “I’m bout to be a Suns fan $70 tickets on Christmas and $2 concessions; an organization for the people.” It’s odd to see the vast disparity in prices for two Christmas specials. On one hand, it’s $382 and on the other hand, it’s a mere $70. A difference of $312 and fans aren’t particularly pleased about it. And the Phoenix Suns are collecting all the praises.

Christmas at MSG is all about drama, dollars, and daring moves! Wemby’s sheisty has fans buzzing, ticket prices have wallets groaning, and the Knicks brace for a battle. Will the 7’4″ phenom conquer the cold and the court? Or will KAT’s grit steal the show? Stay tuned for the holiday heat!
