The Portland Trail Blazers meet the Minnesota Timberwolves once again, this time for the NBA Cup opener at the Moda Center. It’s safe to say that they’ll have a fresh memory of the last game, where Anthony Edwards was on fire as he hit a career-high 9 3-pointers shooting 9 out of 15 from beyond the arc, ensuring an efficient 127-102 win for the Wolves.
ANT and the Wolves’ 3-game winning streak, however, was halted by the Heat on Monday, in a game where both teams failed to cross the 100-point mark. On the other hand, the Blazers have now dropped 3-in-a-row, suffering an embarrassing 45-point thumping against the Grizzlies, that too, in front of their home crowd.
After the defeat head coach, Chauncey Billups was, to say the least, very unhappy with his side’s performance, as he expressed, “It was just embarrassing. To be honest with you, we was soft as hell the whole game. Nobody really fought it was just embarrassing for everybody,” reflecting on his team’s poor performance on the night.

Billups added to his rant, saying, “It’s unfortunate that we had to go out there in front of our fans you know who paid their hard-earned money to come and see their favorite team play and we show up and do that.”
It is safe to say he expects his players to look in the mirror, and at the bare minimum, put up a fight against their opponent. Minnesota and Portland are in group A alongside the Clippers, Kings, and Rockets. Let’s have a closer look at the injury report from both teams as they hope to start their Cup run with a win.

The Timberwolves have a completely fit roster for tonight’s game against the Trail Blazers. However, they will be missing Daishen Nix, Jaylen Clark, Leonard Miller, and Jesse Edwards. All of them are out of the game because of their G League commitments.

On the other hand, the Trail Blazers only have a single player on their injury list- Matisse Thybulle, who has been ruled out of the game because of a knee injury. Apart from him, Portland has everyone available for selection.

As things stand, Anthony Edwards and Co. could prove to be too much for this struggling Blazers side, who’re winless in their last 3 and aren’t performing even near their best. So, even on the road, the Wolves look like the favorites here. Anfernee Simons has had a slow start alongside the sophomore guard Scoot Henderson, who also hasn’t hit the strides as of now.
