“Like I always say, Batman comes out of nowhere. You never see him coming. He just falls from the sky, from the building, behind the door, does some incredible things,” said Jimmy Butler, about Stephen Curry, after the Warriors’ Game 1 win against the Houston Rockets. Over the years, the NBA All-Time 3-point leader has accumulated several monikers. Chef Curry, Baby-Faced Assassin, etc. Now, his newest veteran teammate has gone ahead and compared Curry to the Caped Crusader. It is a hill that Jimmy Butler will probably die on, as seen from the social media post he put out right after the Warriors’ Game 3 win, from which he was absent. Curry appreciates the gesture, but isn’t sure whether he would want to part with a portion of his $250 million fortune for it.
Stephen Curry participated in a presser after the Warriors’ 104-93 win against the Houston Rockets. During the same time, he was asked whether he had checked Jimmy Butler’s Instagram post. Curry did, and was impressed enough to call it “Elite, Elite”. For context, Butler had published a post that featured the iconic Bat-Signal. However, the Bat-Symbol was replaced by the official logo of the Under Armour Curry Brand. The 35-year-old wrote a caption alongside the post. It read, “thanks batman and team. excluding buddy” (Butler likes to occasionally troll Buddy Hield). Through the use of the Curry Brand’s logo, Jimmy Butler was, in a way, promoting the brand itself. Therefore, Curry made it clear that if any monetary benefit comes his way from the post, then he will be the sole benefactor among the two.
“No, he made that on his own. I don’t know if I can give him any royalties for the Curry Brand sales we’re gonna have,” said Curry with a smile on his face. “So, but I do appreciate it”.

Stephen Curry does not need to worry, since Jimmy Butler can certainly survive without the Curry Brand royalties. He can do more than survive, since he signed a 2-year, $110.959 million contract with the Warriors, which will go into effect from next season. This is the same man who was once captured spending $145 to fill the tank of his Bugatti! Then again, those royalties would have certainly had some impact on Butler’s net worth. After all, despite the competition, Stephen Curry’s shoe brand is doing well for itself.

According to a report by TD Cowen, as highlighted by Bloomberg, the Curry brand accumulated as much as $250 million in the $5.9 billion annual sales for Under Armour back in 2023. However, it is important to remember that the Curry Brand has only existed since November 2020. Stephen Curry once said, “What we’ve learned over the last 4 years, doing what we do great, and I understand this is a marathon”. Therefore, the brand currently needs time to breathe and grow, but is still performing impressively on the sales front. With any hope, the Under Armour shoes do get some more traction from the post by Jimmy Butler, who ironically used to wear Air Jordans a lot during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
For now, the sales of his shoes would be the least of Stephen Curry’s concerns. After all, the Warriors have gotten a chance to once again make a play at the championship title. Therefore, more than posts, the player wants his teammates to continue giving their best.

Stephen Curry asks for Jimmy Butler’s availability in plea for Game 4
Jimmy Butler had time to make that Batman post. After all, he could not make himself available to compete in Game 3. The veteran had sustained what was initially diagnosed as a pelvic contusion during Game 2. The injury occurred after he crashed hard to the floor while chasing a rebound and got undercut midair by Rockets forward Amen Thompson. Later, it was reported that the player had sustained a deep glute muscle contusion. Due to this, he was listed as ‘Questionable’, and eventually ‘OUT’, for Game 3. Losing his ‘Robin’ is certainly the last thing Stephen Curry wants, especially now in the postseason. Therefore, while a one-game absence may be fine, Curry would be hoping it isn’t a long-term thing.
When discussing the Batman post, Stephen Curry was asked by a reporter whether he is embracing the Batman idea that Butler is pushing. To this, the player replied saying, “I mean you call it whatever you want to. I just know I need to play at a high level for us to win. And so does he. So does Draymond. So does everybody”. Curry further added, “So, whatever you want to call me, um, yeah, I embrace it, and hopefully it keeps happening”.

Gary Payton II said that beating the Rockets without Butler “absolutely” gave the Warriors confidence. Then again, nothing can be taken for chance in the playoffs. The Warriors may have prevailed now, but the same cannot be said for Game 4. Hopefully, Jimmy Butler participates, helps the Warriors win, and the next post on his social media is his and Curry’s heads photoshopped on Robin and Batman.
