The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Los Angeles Lakers as they prepare for a crucial Game 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After a tough Game 3 loss where they struggled to match Minnesota’s energy, the team’s health — and their mental sharpness — have become major talking points heading into Sunday afternoon.
A lot of attention has shifted toward Luka Doncic, who clearly wasn’t himself last game, battling visible signs of a stomach illness throughout. With their season potentially hanging in the balance, Lakers fans are anxiously waiting for updates on their superstar’s condition before tip-off.

Injury Report: Luka Doncic’s status for Game 4
The Lakers’ official injury report, filed late Saturday, brought a major sigh of relief across Los Angeles: Luka Doncic is NOT listed.
This means Doncic is expected to suit up and play in Game 4 despite suffering through a rough stomach virus that drained him of his usual energy in their Game 3 defeat.
The only name on the Lakers’ injury report is Maxi Kleber, who remains sidelined following foot surgery. Otherwise, it’s all systems go — at least on paper. However, just because Doncic’s name isn’t on the report doesn’t mean he’s at full strength. Head coach JJ Redick emphasized after Game 3 that Doncic had been vomiting throughout the afternoon and struggled mightily to even get through the game.

“He hasn’t been feeling well for the last 24 hours,” Redick told reporters. “His stomach was bothering him. He was vomiting all afternoon…he was really under the weather.”
Despite the illness, Doncic gutted out 40 minutes, posting 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. But it was a far cry from the explosive production he delivered in Games 1 and 2, where he averaged 34 points per night. His lower energy level showed: he shot just 6-for-16 from the field, attempted only four free throws, and turned the ball over five times.
What’s your perspective on:
Will LeBron and Luka finally click and dominate Game 4, or will health issues hold them back?

Even his teammates noticed how badly the stomach bug affected him. “I didn’t think he was going to come out [for the] second half,” Dorian Finney-Smith said. “He looked a little pale today…he probably needs to hydrate some more.” Austin Reaves added, “He gave it everything he had tonight.”
If there’s any positive, it’s that Doncic pushing through Game 3 may have given him an extra day to recover fully for Game 4. While he won’t be 100%, Lakers fans can breathe a little easier knowing their superstar will be on the floor in the most important game of their season so far.
Dwyane Wade Sends Direct Message to Luka Doncic and LeBron James
As if Luka Doncic and LeBron James needed more motivation heading into Game 4, NBA legend Dwyane Wade stepped in with a passionate call to arms.
On his “Time Out with Dwyane Wade” podcast, Wade challenged Doncic and LeBron to rise above the struggles and dominate the way superstars are supposed to.
“I want to see them be the two baddest motherf—ers on the planet together,” Wade said. “When I’m watching basketball and I see Luka and LeBron, if they lose, ok, you can lose, but I want you two to be the two baddest motherf—ers on the planet together.”
It’s clear that the pairing of Luka Doncic and LeBron James has generated championship-level expectations. But so far in this series, outside of brief stretches, they haven’t fully clicked at the same time, mostly due to health issues, turnovers, and poor execution down the stretch. Wade’s comments perfectly capture what fans and analysts are waiting for: an overpowering, superstar-driven performance where both Doncic and James refuse to let their team lose.

Heading into Game 4, there’s no better moment for Doncic and LeBron to deliver that statement win, not just for Wade, but for the survival of their season.
The Lakers’ Game 4 hopes hinge heavily on Luka Doncic’s ability to fight through his recent illness and return to something closer to his dominant self. The good news? He’s healthy enough to play. The bad news? It’s still a question of how much the stomach bug will impact his performance against a physical and hungry Timberwolves squad. The lingering uncertainty surrounding Doncic’s health injects an element of unpredictability into a game of huge importance.
