2024/25 did not end the way Stephen Curry wanted it to. After a gruelling 7-game series against the Houston Rockets, Steph suffered the first hamstring injury of his career in Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Owing to that injury, he was helpless as his team lost the next 4 games in a row. But don’t think all he did was watch because we saw something we seldom see from him in Game 5, as he had a request after the game.

Last night, the Golden State Warriors lost to the Wolves 121-110. And needless to say, Steph was not pleased. But viewers on the live broadcast missed a key interaction between him and his teammates last night.

A fan sitting near the Dubs bench at the Target Center caught what TNT cameras missed — Stephen Curry getting heated with his teammates. Whether he was dishing out some motivation or just berating his teammates for losing is unclear. But boy, did Steph look heated in that clip. But longtime teammate Draymond Green did not look too bothered by the whole thing. So, we can assume it didn’t cause any friction among the team.

Even so, Steph was clearly pissed. And that may be the reason behind his unusual request following the game. After he was finished talking to the media after the game, he told them, “Appreciate y’all. Leave me alone this summer.” There’s no misinterpreting what Steph said. He’s made it crystal clear that he does not want to be bothered this summer.

And it may come down to him wanting to use this offseason to prepare for the upcoming 2025/26 NBA season. After all, it’s another opportunity to get what he couldn’t this season — his 5th ring. Before making this request to the media. Steph revealed his feelings on the upcoming season.

Stephen Curry “looking forward” to next season

Stephen Curry has two years remaining on his contract. But so do Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. That means the Dubs’ veteran core doesn’t have too much time left to win a ring together. And no one knows this better than Steph. In that vein, Steph is focused on only one thing. And that’s making sure the team has what it needs to win a chip.

” I’m just looking forward to next year…We want this ride to last as long as possible. But it’s just about, like, ‘What does this team need for next year?’ Answering those questions over the summer, everybody preparing themselves individually to get through, another 82-game season,” said Steph.

But most of all, he wants to avoid a repeat of this season, where he and his team had to work their behinds off to ensure they made it to the postseason. “Hopefully, with a little bit more of a little comfort room down the stretch, where we don’t have to have a two-month gauntlet just to make the playoffs. So that’s all I’m really focused on right now,” said Steph to the media.

Suffering this hamstring injury seems to have shown Steph that the team needs to be able to take it a little easier as they approach the postseason. After all, every game the Dubs played in the regular season after February was do-or-die. The fatigue that can build up over time because of this is no joke. And we all saw how it culminated in the Dubs losing their best player at the most crucial juncture.

All in all, Steph seems to be laser-focused on getting his 5th ring. More so now than he was before the 2024/25 season started. And NBA teams need to be prepared. A focused Stephen Curry is also the most dangerous version of him!
