Three games into the playoffs, the Golden State Warriors are up 2-1 against the Houston Rockets. Sure, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Podz, and the whole crew deserve their flowers. They showed up when it mattered. But, if you listen closely, there’s a louder heartbeat under it all. Love him or hate him, you can’t miss it. Yes, it’s Draymond Green again. Since 2012, he’s been the Warriors’ engine. Thirteen years later? Still revving, still roaring.

At 35, he’s still out here rewriting the rules. LeBron James wasn’t lying when he called him a master of “positionless” basketball. And now, he’s got another badge of honor. Already a 1x DPOY, and hungry for a second, he just added the NBA Hustle Player of the Year award to his collection on Friday. However, missing out on the DPOY award to Evan Mobley, someone had to do some cheering!

So, who else if not his wife, Hazel Renee? Dray’s greatest cheerleader through thick and thin. Taking to her Instagram Story, the 39-year-old shared a post of Draymond Green with the caption: “One thing about two things for sure that man be out there working hard on that court!! Congratulations love 💕.”  Reposting the Story on his IG Story, Draymond Green wrote: “💚💚💚 gracias mi amor” (Translation: thank you, my love).

Well, Draymond Green did not just show up; he showed out. While others chased numbers, he quietly stormed the charts, landing on top 15 in five hustle stats and cracking the top 40 in all nine. No flashy crown needed, just pure heart, grit, and a little bit of Draymond magic. 8 years since his first DPOY, a major drought, even if it’s not the Defensive player tag, seems to have come to an end!

Off the court, Draymond’s perfect chemistry with wife Hazel Renee is something we all adore. However, on the court, the 8x All-Defensive selection and 4x All-Star shares a similar chemistry with the Baby-Faced Assassin. Now, they have revealed their wordless communication that has helped them in the toughest games.

Stephen Curry confirms “unspoken message” with Draymond Green

You don’t always have to be the loudest for the person standing across you to hear you or understand your motives. Gestures and eye contact are enough; in reality, that’s how most NBA duos work on the court. And (not so) surprisingly enough, that’s how Stephen Curry and Draymond Green also function on the court. The 37-year-old superstar point guard also confirmed his teammate’s stance on Saturday, after winning 104-93 vs. the Houston Rockets in Game 3 at Chase Center.

Before Steph appeared before the media, Green had talked about the unspoken message that he shares with the Golden Boy. Therefore, the reporters further inquired that Curry reported recognizing Draymond’s energy dip and took it upon himself to pick it up. “Is there an unspoken message to what you’re trying to do after your teammates when you’re trying to do something like that?”

What’s your perspective on:

Does Draymond Green's hustle make him more valuable than flashy stats? What do you think?

Have an interesting take?

Steph informed, “No, I was just trying to win, like whatever it takes. We’ve been in these situations plenty of times, and Draymond specifically, he’s picked me up plenty of times. It might not be saying anything or demonstrative. It’s just how you play. You understand the moment. So, just trying to win no matter how it looks.” Draymond Green has always had Curry’s back in the past, therefore, when the situation demands a payback, the 4x champ never takes a backseat.

Thus, with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of grit, Draymond’s been the silent force behind the Warriors‘ success. Even without the Defensive Player of the Year tag on himself, his importance on the team is unparalleled. On and off the court, his bond with Curry and Hazel shows us what true chemistry looks like. No drama, just dedication, proving once again that his impact goes beyond the box score.
