“If you ever wonder why the Memphis Grizzlies aren’t ready to compete for a championship, look no further than this idiot right here.” Draymond Green once fired that infamous shot at Dillon Brooks during their heated playoff battles. Fast forward to 2025—Brooks is now with the Rockets, but the bad blood hasn’t cooled one bit. Now facing Green again in the postseason, you just knew the fireworks weren’t going to be limited to basketball.
A day has passed since the heated Warriors vs Rockets Game 4 clash. But the hoop community still hasn’t gotten over the highly intense encounter. Especially the controversial altercation involving Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks. While they might be on opposite sides, Brooks and Green play similar roles for their teams. Disruptors—using their physicality and elite defense to get under opponents’ skin. And it often gets them in trouble.
Even last night, Green and Brooks got into a physical altercation after the Rockets’ star tried to snatch the ball from Stephen Curry’s hands following a hard foul. Draymond grabbed Dillon’s jersey and pushed him away from Steph, sparking a massive brawl between both teams. All three players were penalized with a tech for their involvement. Well, it’s clear that Draymond and Brooks are not too fond of each other. So, TNT’s Stan Van Gundy suggested an unusual solution to settle the beef once and for all.

During tonight’s Clippers vs Nuggets Game 5, Gundy gave an unexpected turn to the Green-Brooks controversy. “In that Warriors-Rockets series, half time entertainment should be AWE Draymond Green vs Dillon Brooks in the ring.” He said on Live TV. Of course, he meant AEW, Tony Khan’s renowned wrestling company. Gundy’s on-air colleague even corrected his mistake, “We’d just stay on AEW on brand… I’ll write that out there.” Stan responded, “AEW. You’re absolutely right. My fault.”
Although the TNT announcer did not get the organization’s name right, his idea turned a lot of eyeballs. Draymond and Dillon settling things inside the squared circle at half-time. Surely, a lot of fans would pay good money to watch that fight. Of course, this idea will never come to fruition, so we might have to make peace with watching the two stars go at each other on the hardwood during games. Maybe, even Jimmy Butler will join in.

Jimmy Butler reveals dislike for Dillon Brooks after Rockets star calls Draymond Green a “dirty player”
Apart from the Brooks-Draymond beef, there was another rivalry brewing during last night’s game. One between Jimmy Butler and Dillon Brooks. They were constantly chirping at each other and Butler even hit the Rockets star with a hard foul during a drive in the opening half. After the game, Jimmy revealed his true feelings for Brooks, “Get me on the record with this: I don’t like Dillon Brooks. We’re never having fun. I’m a fierce competitor. He’s a fierce competitor. There ain’t nothing fun about that.”

With how physical this series has been, there is definitely some bad blood between both teams. Even Brooks pointed fingers at Draymond after many accused Amen Thompson of being a dirty player for causing Butler’s hard fall in Game 2. “No, I think the dirty player is Draymond, giving him a little push as regular basketball players do. And Jimmy’s fighting in the air for a rebound and stuff happens. Amen’s not a dirty player. He has [nothing] to do with being a dirty player.” Brooks said, defending his teammate.

What’s your perspective on:
Would you pay to see Draymond and Dillon settle their beef in a wrestling match?
Have an interesting take?
Sure, it was Amen who collided with Jimmy and swept his feet from underneath him, causing him to fall and injure his pelvis. But Thompson clearly had no control of his body as he himself took a hard hit from Draymond inside the paint. So Brooks blamed Green for Jimmy’s injury instead of Amen. While the two stars might never step in a wrestling ring together, they are likely to butt heads again when the Warriors and Rockets face each other tomorrow in Game 5. Whose side are you on?
