The Golden State Warriors have a golden opportunity to go 2-0 up in their series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. But with the Dubs missing their best player — Steph Curry  — all of their other players will need to work that much harder to ensure victory against the hungry Wolves. But it seems one player, Brandin Podziemski, didn’t get the memo.

In only his sophomore year in the NBA, Brandin Podziemski managed to impress Steve Kerr enough to become a sporadic starter for the Dubs. And he repaid that faith, shooting at a higher 3-point clip than players like Luka Doncic and Donovan Mitchell. But tonight, there was no sign of that Podz against the Timberwolves.

Podz is having a horrid game tonight with only 9 attempts from the field, and 2 turnovers in 31 minutes played so far, midway through the final quarter. He’s only registered 11 points so far, with only 1 3-pointer made from 4 attempts. And his sloppy plays and passes to teammates in poor positions have been a massive factor behind the Dubs’ 16 turnovers tonight.

While they’re missing the Baby-Faced Assassin, the Dubs simply cannot afford to be so sloppy against a team like the Timberwolves. The Warriors’ messy play has meant they never took the lead in this game. On the other hand, the T-Wolves have led by as much as 22 points tonight.

Given this abysmal showing from their team and Podz especially, the Dub Nation was not happy. Upset as they are, they tore the 22-year-old to shreds on X (formerly Twitter). So, we’ve compiled some of the best reactions we found online.

Dub Nation turns against Brandin Podziemski after horrible Game 2 performance against Minnesota

It’s a massive understatement to say that the Dub Nation did not enjoy the way Brandin Podziemski played tonight. But one fan may have gone too far in their “criticism.” Brandon Podziemski just a bundle of a–. He look like a– and play like a-. Just an a– human,” wrote an eloquent fan on X. While we cannot comment on him likening Podz to a body part, we can agree that he didn’t show up at all tonight. He logged the second-highest minutes on the court tonight. Even so, he was outscored by the likes of Jonathan Kuminga and Trayce Jackson-Davis who came off the bench tonight.

Speaking of Kuminga, one fan praised him while highlighting Podz’s poor showing tonight. “The Good: Jonathan Kuminga has 17 points on 8-of-8 shooting The Bad: Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody haven’t played this poorly in a long time,” they wrote. And JK did look quite impressive tonight, ending the game with 18 points and 5 rebounds off 8-11 shooting. On the other hand, Podziemski continues his string of poor performances. He hasn’t scored more than 12 points since Game 4 against the Houston Rockets last month.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Warriors survive without Curry, or is Podziemski's inconsistency a sign of trouble ahead?

Have an interesting take?

But one page on X argued that Podz actually had one of his better games tonight. As one fan wrote, “Moody and Brandin Podziemski, plus and minus gotta be off the charts,” they were met with a shocking stat.  Brandin Podziemski tonight: 11 PTS 6 REB 6 AST 2 STL +1 (only positive on the team),” wrote the aforementioned page that advocated for the young Dubs star. And it’s true! Not even Jimmy Butler, who had a team-high 24 points, managed to get a positive rating tonight. Perhaps Podz’s 10/5/5 game and the 2 steals he grabbed helped his plus/minus tonight.

Whether you agree that Podz had a bad game or not, one thing is clear. The Dubs need him to play better than the way he played tonight with Steph Curry on the sidelines. And it’s not just him. All of their players need to turn it up a notch while Steph recovers from his hamstring strain. Game 3 will be very telling of how much faith Kerr can put in his men in Curry’s absence. And if things remain the same. Well, he may have to say goodbye to his hopes of a 5th ring.
