The Detroit Pistons finally ended their curse with a 129-127 victory over the Raptors tonight! The two months of wait was a difficult one for fans and the franchise equally. On one side, it was the worry that they would have to welcome the New Year with a major losing streak.

On the other side, it was a tug-of-war with the fans trying their best to showcase support while not trying to lose their patience. Rob Perez paints a picture of it accurately. He might have very well been referring to the infamous “Malice in the Palace” incident that happened in 2004.

What began as a Pacers-Pistons player fight, turned into a full-fledged brawl when the fans became involved. The outcome was a lot of bruises and injured people. It also resulted in nine players being suspended for 146 games, five players charged with assault and sentenced to a year of probation and community service. There were five fans also who faced assault charges. These unlucky fellows were banned from attending any home games indefinitely!

A few days back, Pistons fans were so impatient with the team that they wore masks in the arena with “sell the team” written on them. There were “sell the team” chants as well, which were repeated in other matches too. There was such a tense atmosphere that it could have led to a riot-like situation had there been any trigger. Thankfully, nothing untoward happened.

Win gives way to hilarious reactions from Detroit Pistons fans

When talking about impatient fans, this lady here takes the cake. She looks to have lost a lot of sleep (over the Pistons?). But what captured the camera’s attention was the sign she held, which said, “Believe”. The catch? That sign was torn into pieces before gluing them back together. The post was captioned hilariously, “She did not always believe!!!!”

The struggle is real for the poor woman! Another fan with varied sports interests predicts an interesting end to the victory night.

Yet another user has awarded them a brand new banner, with the words, “Pistons won a basketball game” overwritten on top.

Taking it in its stride, this banner can very well be the motivation Detroit needs. Finally, the same user posted another emotional video, captioned “PISTONS WIN”

The video shows a Clippers-Timberwolves matchup which happened on April 13, 2022. Minnesota just won against the Clippers 109-104 and Patrick Beverley cannot contain his tears. As per @Kofie, this resembles the Pistons’ mindset now.

Either way, Michigan can breathe a sigh of relief at having broken their streak. Hopefully, this was not just the calm before the storm and they can continue this momentum.
