“Joel, you know I love you. But it starts with you, and your habits.” This alleged comment shocked the NBA fraternity after the latest locker room leak regarding the Philadelphia 76ers. The Tyrese Maxey-Joel Embiid locker room bust-up has a new twist to the tale. Apparently, former Dallas Mavericks player Chandler Parsons and 3x NBA 6th Man of the Year, Lou Williams came out to give their views. Williams started his career with the 76ers and stayed with the franchise for a long time. But this incident left him lost for words.
In the day and age, where questions loom over locker room privacy, the Maxey-Embiid situation accelerates the need for privacy. It’s a sacred place for some players. And guess what? Williams and Parsons spoke about how this incident hit all the wrong notes.
“It doesn’t seem like Tyrese Maxey would jump Joel Embiid out of nowhere. … I know Shams is good at his job, but this is unacceptable. This needs to stay in-house,” mentioned Parsons. Apparently, Parsons resented Charania’s attempt to detail the story. He wanted this incident to be in the locker room. In the meantime, Lou Williams denied any bust-up between the players.

The former 76ers man contacted some of his connections in Philly and found out they escalated the situation. With a regular team talk planned for the roster, Tyrese’s statement on Joel became the talking point for the town. Well, according to Williams, “One way or another, I ended up on the phone with a few of the guys from the 76ers. By all accounts, this was blown out of proportion. You know, the idea of Tyrese calling Joel out and how it’s been portrayed in the media, as you know, one of these types of blowup things.”
Like most locker rooms, the Philadelphia 76ers discussed the terrible form leading them to stay dead last in the 15th position of the Eastern Conference table. With a record of 2-11, they are the worst team in the league with the Jazz claiming three victories. With PG, Embiid, and Maxey at the helm, it’s unacceptable for the team to stay so low. However, having team talks benefits.

“From my understanding, they just had a conversation on accountability. Just keeping everybody in check. You know, sometimes you gotta have that as a team. Just making sure we’re all on the same page. Hey bro, we understand you’re not gonna play in these games but you know team meetings and all of that is important for you to be there. It’s important for you to be there on time,” mentioned Lou Williams. It’s critical to point out if someone is slacking.
Especially when you’re playing for Philadelphia, a sports-loving town that wants nothing but success. Significantly, it all starts with discipline and Maxey wanted Embiid to show more of it. “It wasn’t much of Tyrese Maxey challenging Joel Embiid, as it’s been stated…. They were sitting next to each other when we were on the phone, laughing and giggling. They’re having a good time and trying to get this team back on the same page.”
The player downplayed all the issues coming from the locker room. They believe in one direction – winning, and having a team meeting could change their fortunes. Of course, the injury concerns hurt the team. Despite Paul George arriving in Philly, the dreamy trio never played together.

If they could get their players firing on all cylinders, the 76ers would become a different machine. Nick Nurse has won a championship with the Toronto Raptors. He has the experience the team needs. Philly will face the Memphis Grizzlies next. Lose that, and the doubts creep in yet again.
