The heat of the moment in an NBA game can bring with it some unexpected occurrences. During the ongoing preseason matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers, the ball was quickly shipped to Devin Booker. However, in the attempt to catch it and keep it inbound, the hooper lost his balance and fell headfirst on the announcers’ table!

Fortunately, the accident didn’t have any severe impact on the player. He was able to get up and get back to the court, even then dapping up with D’Angelo Russell in a display of sportsmanship. The commentators took things in their stride, although one of them wasn’t willing to let the incident die down soon enough. With Booker falling right where Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller were calling the game, Harlan immediately joked, “I have spilled stuff all over my notes!”

The renowned play-by-play announcer didn’t stop there, and continued the ‘rant’ by stating, “How am I going to do this game, Devin? Thank you, D-Lo. You’re a good man. Listen, I know, the notes are ruined. The notes are ruined. The whole thing is messed up.”

While Reggie Miller’s major concern lay in the fact that Devin Booker smashed his face on the equipment, Kevin Harlan wasn’t willing to pay much heed and continued, “Do you know how long I’ve worked on these notes? Like, for weeks. And now they’re gone!”

After watching a replay of the moment, and witnessing just how Booker had smashed on the equipment, Harlan had finally put a pause on his ‘rant.’ Fortunately, Devin Booker’s collision was the only ‘embarrassing’ moment to have come out of the matchup for him. After all, despite losing to the Lakers by a 128-122 score, the 27-year-old still emerged as the lead scorer amongst his teammates, having scored 22 points by going 8-18 with his field goals, 3-7 with his three-pointers, and 3-3 with his free throws.

Devin Booker would have certainly emerged as the man of the night, if it wasn’t for Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht’s jaw-dropping 35-point performance, combined with Anthony Davis’ 35 points too, that delivered the win to the visiting team!

Despite the memorable performances from both sides and the fact that the collision was a brief moment in the game, the frightening fall wasn’t something that people would easily forget about until they got a response from Devin Booker himself.

Ignoring Kevin Harlen’s ‘notes’ trouble, Devin Booker eliminates concerns of injury: “I had my headband on”

During the postgame presser, Devin Booker touched base on several topics, including Dalton Knecht’s marvelous performance and Jusuf Nurkic’s return to the basketball court. NBA reporter, Gerald Bourguet, used the opportunity to ask the 27-year-old whether his face was all right after the collision. Without thinking for long, Booker replied, “Yes, luckily, I had my headband on.”

Immediately after that, AZ Sports reporter Kellan Olson drew the player’s attention to Kevin Harlen’s remarks. After hearing what the commentator had to say, Booker only replied, “Oh, that’s—okay. There it is.” Devin Booker could use the aftermath of the fall incident to continue keeping the iconic ‘Headband Book’ look on for the duration of the season.
