When the Sixers signed Patrick Beverley in July 2023, they would not have imagined the impact the 6’2″ guard would have on the team. As they try to find a beat and navigate this season, Pat Bev has been a huge cornerstone, especially complimenting a ball-dominant player like Joel Embiid. The defensive stalwart is the glue that brings the team together, and Philly was in dire need of this type of leadership and a loud voice.
With the trade market in motion, it is disheartening to even imagine Pat Bev leaving the Sixers at this point in the season. In a recent episode of his show, The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, the man himself asserts that such a scenario playing out is out of the topic.
Philly has to think twice before trading Pat Bev

Pat Bev cannot imagine a situation where the Sixers could possibly trade him. Speaking with co-host Adam Ferrone, he asks the million-dollar question, “Ay, you think I’m getting traded?” Then goes ahead and answers his own question, “Imagine they trade me. Philly would go crazy.” Taking it a step further, Adam promises that if Pat gets traded, there will be riots. Giving a fair warning, he adds, “If Pat Bev gets traded, we’re flipping cars. They better grease the poles if you get traded because we’re burning down City Hall.”

Adam hilariously makes sure that the Sixers best believe the crime in the city would increase if they let go of Pat Bev. This prompts a hearty laugh from Pat, who confidently asks the rhetorical question, “Imagine I get traded. Are you sick?” The 3X All-Defensive Team player signed a one-year, $3.2 million contract with the Sixers last year, and unless Philly proposes a contract extension after this season, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
Pat Bev wishes he played for the Sixers his whole career
It looks like Pat Bev has found the perfect fit in Philly after bouncing from one team to the other in the big league. Uncovering his X post from a few weeks ago, it is obvious that in another universe, “Mr. 94 Feet” would have loved to play in Philly his entire career. Replying to a post by Barstool Philly on X that asked, “Who is a player that should have played their entire career in Philly but didn’t?” he said that it should have been him.

The Sixers might be playing it safe with the 35-year-old Pat, but the way things are going now, it seems both sides are in a win-win situation. Pat is incredibly good at leading the second unit; he can comfortably let it fly but can also get it in the paint. Most importantly, he has a way of slipping into opponents’ grills, making him an excellent defensive asset.
If anything, Philly should have signed him sooner so that he could have had more years to play with them.
