“There is a lot more work to do. You guys deserve a championship and I think we’re just getting started!” Having recently signed the biggest contract of his career, Joel Embiid set high expectations for the future. The franchise continues to remain a championship contender. The 76ers made it to the playoffs 9 times in the last 14 seasons. However, they haven’t gone beyond the Conference Semi-Finals in 23 years! Fortunately, the off-season has seen some significant changes, with Forbes calling it “Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey’s masterpiece.”
Embiid has already given his thoughts. Now, it remains for Nick Nurse and other members of the franchise management to discuss what the future holds, and answer media queries. There is no better chance to do so than the upcoming Media Day! Therefore, without any further ado, let us find out more about the anticipated press conference.

The Philadelphia 76ers management team is set to participate in the annual Q&A session on September 30. Since it is the last day before several franchises head to their respective locations for training camp. The 76ers will be sharing Media Day along with 27 other teams. The presser is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the Atlanta Hawks, the New York Knicks, and the Orlando Magic will also hold their briefings at the same time.
Team members will gather at the practice facility in Camden, New Jersey, for the media to get a glimpse of the veterans and the new additions to the franchise. Fans can watch the whole event unfold by heading to the official YouTube channel of the Philadelphia 76ers on the main day. The official website of the NBA will post the clip of the full presser after its conclusion, with separate clips being formed for the highlights as well. Fans can also head up to X to receive updates from reporters like Grant Afseth and Keith Smith.
After the conclusion of Media Day, members of the 76ers franchise are scheduled to fly off to the Bahamas, where their training camp will take place from October 1 to October 5. This marks the third consecutive time that the 76ers have chosen to spend the training camp period away from home, having gone to Charleston and Fort Collins during the previous seasons. Nick Nurse, who will be serving as the 76ers coach for the second season, wants to make the full use of the camp, stating “We are going to be prepared to get every ounce of time used wisely to get our guys ready to go.” The squad’s first pre-season game isn’t scheduled till October 12 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
What topics could be discussed during Media Day?
Going into the off-season, the Philadelphia 76ers held an advantage no other several NBA franchises had. Most teams struggled to stay below the luxury tax and apron limits. However, the Eastern Conference franchise boasted a whopping $60 million in cap space! This was used to make one of the major acquisitions of the off-season, Paul George. They also acquired Caleb Martin and Andre Drummond. Furthermore, the cap space also enabled the 76ers to re-sign Kelly Oubre Jr. Therefore, questions on the status of the new players, and how they can assist Joel Embiid and Co. during the main season.
After a big offseason, the Sixers welcomed players back to Philly in advance of media day and training camp.

The franchise has recently come under criticism for its plans to construct a new arena in Center City. Carrying a price tag of over $1.55 billion, the Philadelphia mayor has granted her approval. Despite this, residents and business owners have stated that the arena will cause “cultural erosion to increased traffic congestion and rising rent prices”. Even NFL legend Jason Kelce has come out in opposition to the move. With the management present, any further updates are likely topics for discussion.
The star of the conference could very well be Joel Embiid. He decided to stay with the 76ers by signing a 3-year, $193 million extension. However, the player also played his second-lowest number of games during the recent season due to injuries. Therefore, we can expect questions about his on-court plans and availability.
