The defending champions faced a challenging game away from home against an emerging Sacramento team. Steph Curry, known for his historic performance, led the Warriors to a must-win game. The game began with Curry starting off the scoring with 20 points, while the King’s Domantas Sabonis scored 16 points.
But Sacramento King’s star point guard, De’Aaron Fox, was struggling with a broken finger throughout the game, which was a disadvantage for them. And due to Curry’s unmatched offensive prowess and Kevon Looney’s performance, the tide turned in favor of the Warriors.
Klay Thompson’s four-point play in the fourth quarter extended Golden State’s lead to 10 points. The Kings’ offense struggled in the final two quarters, scoring only 42 points. Curry’s brilliance was on full display, amassing 30 points in the second half alone. His final tally of 50 points set a new NBA record for the most points in a Game 7.
Recently, Thompson was the guest on the Podcast P hosted by Paul George. When he was asked about the playoff match against Sacramento Kings, he had a lot to say. He stated, “We beat a tough Sacramento team. I mean, that was crazy. You could tell they haven’t been in the playoffs for 16 years. I remember that loud since the Cleveland days, like 2016.”
Thompson was referring to the finals game against LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers where the Warriors lost the series. He further said about the Kings, “Game 6, the finals was loud in there and they are a pesky team, they got quick guards and some bonus.”?
He further said that he, Steph, CP, Andrew, and Dray are on a group chat and all are still hungry and want another ring.

The Golden State Warriors want to preserve their “Big 3” core comprising Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green. They want to do so despite Thompson’s contract having only one year left.
Keeping their powerhouse trio is a priority for the Warriors and, according to NBA expert Mark Medina, they won’t let Thompson go. The Warriors are expected to wait until the upcoming season before extending a new deal to the 33-year-old Thompson. Despite Thompson’s adversity, the Warriors remain firm in their commitment to him as an integral part of their championship-caliber roster.
