In the latest interview with The Ringer, the 2022 NBA champion opened up about his point of view on his influence on the game. He candidly talked about how winning the title with the Golden State Warriors was a turning point in his career. “My basketball legacy is taken care of with the ring,” the point guard mentioned.

His situation within the league changed this offseason following his trade to the Washington Wizards. Reflecting on his upcoming NBA campaign, he highlighted, “I’ll play basketball with no pressure”. The current scenario of the point guard has gained comparison from Harden’s instance at the Houston Rockets.

After James’ trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder, the 2018 MVP had to lead his franchise on his own. Poole found himself under similar circumstances, earning the nickname of “New James Harden” from Kevin Garnett. Despite the comparison, Jordan differentiated himself from the ex-MVP due to his championship win.

Will his story be any different?

What the 34-year-old produced at Houston was remarkable, to say the least. Yet, the team failed to win the conference finals with the 10-time All-Star at its center. Poole similarly has had a brilliant preparation campaign with his new squad.

That’s why, Garnett believed that Poole could become as great individually as James once was for the Rockets. The 2008 NBA champion backed Jordan “to be top five in scoring this year”. The chance is there for him to host numerous ‘Poole Parties’ in the capital.
