The floodgates are open! After the 3-game winning streak at the top, nothing is going LA Lakers‘ way. Fans can’t really point their fingers at LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The dominant frontcourt duo has had a consistent run, both offensively and defensively. So, the fans have no choice other than directing their anger at the rookie coach, JJ Redick. Especially, fans had a lot to say when NBA Insider Shams Charania revealed an unusual detail about the 40-year-old coach.
In his latest feature in Sports Center, Charania had a lot of positives to say about Redick. he added, “As a coach, JJ Redick is nothing short of detail-oriented, structured. He’s got accountability to this group.” Following that, Charania went on to reveal a strange trait to point out the rookie coach’s passion for the game. But guess what, it didn’t sit well with the LakeShow fan.
The Insider said, “There have been a number of clipboards broken over the first month of JJ Redick as head coach of the Lakers. He’s supremely passionate, and that’s palpable within the roster and how badly he wants to win. He’s a perfectionist.”

Breaking a clipboard isn’t a new affair in sports and it didn’t solely irk fans’ anger, but the Lakers’ performance in the last few games. A fan wrote, “Or maybe he needs a better emotional management.”At least, the refs don’t eject Redick for aggressive behavior on the courtside. In that context, breaking a clipboard is much more efficient for the Lakers nation.

Is JJ Redick's clipboard-smashing passion a sign of dedication or just poor emotional control?

Another pointed finger at D’Angelo Russell for Redick’s frustration, as they wrote, “Half of those clipboards were broken bc of Dlo.” Another fan with the same thought, also dropped advice to the Lakers front office. They wrote, “Slamming chairs after D-LO takes a bad shot won’t help their cause if they want to trade him.” Russell has been under fire for the last few days over his poor shooting display with an underwhelming 29.2% FG from the arc.
Moreover, JJ went after D’Lo publicly and took a shot at him at the presser, saying, “And at times, he’s been really good with that stuff. And other times, it’s just reverting back to certain habits,” after reducing his minutes in the game against the Grizzlies. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Lakers trade away the guard in the coming months.

Another fan tried to bring humor out of this, and wrote, “As long as he doesn’t snap a clipboard on Lebron’s head then he’s all good.” Of course, the 39-year-old is playing his 22nd season and fans don’t want him to get sidelined on a clipboard incident. Not to forget, the superstar posted a 39-point outing against the Grizzlies. This fan just wanted to drop a comparison, saying, “Darwin Ham would of just said Salute.”
The Lakers had their biggest addition this season, replacing JJ for Darvin Ham. A video of Ham giving a pep talk to the Lakers player on the courtside went viral recently where the 51-year-old coach saluted the players before they broke for the action. And the fans went all over it to troll him. Nevertheless, what do you make of Redick’s coaching run so far? Let us know in the comments.
