The Dallas Mavericks sent the LA Clippers’ veteran squad to an early flight to “Cancun” by ending their postseason in American Airlines Center. It took the Mavs six games to close-out the series and behind the success of game 6 was an electrifying performance by Kyrie Irving. Kai put his arsenal of skills on display, getting a highlight worthy 30-points. Front and center were his ball handling abilities, getting a massive reaction from the crowd and his teammates.
While the NBA world showered the former NBA champion with praises after his performance, Irving has something more sinister to get off his chest. In the post-game press conference Kai said, “I just don’t think a lot of people knew who I was …. unfortunately, you have people behind the scenes that are trying to kill off your character or make you quit something that you love to do or make you believe a perception about yourself.”

Kai is referring to the times when the media tries to paint him as something he is not, seeing posts on his social media which don’t fully represent him. The 8 time All-Star made a direct reference to this by saying, “I’m a public figure but my social media is not who I am.”
The narrative around Irving is constantly shifting from negative remarks to a Basketball Wizard, so it’s justifiably difficult to keep one’s head straight. As for the playoffs, the sudden change in the Mavericks roster built around Luka and Kai, is helping the media to scoot over the 32-year-old’s side.
Is another ring the books for Kyrie Irving with the Dallas Mavericks?

After leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017, Irving’s career hasn’t been close to title contention. Despite making a few lackluster playoff apreances, a real shot at the title has seemed like a long-shot for Irving. However, in this Mavericks squad, a ring doesn’t seem that improbable. Even if Dallas doesn’t make to the Finals this year there is a strong chance for them to win it in the next three years.
This is due to the fact that Doncic is the beginning of his prime and even Irving’s 26.5 point first around average is enough to steer the team through the post-season. The Mavs are a heavy favorites to win the second round against the younger and more-inexperienced Oklahoma City Thunder this year to make to the finals in the West. Though, the question of them winning the West is very much a mystery. Can the Mavs make to the NBA Finals this year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
