The 25-year-old reportedly backed his teammate of six years for signing a record-breaking 5-year $304 million deal. In the midst of the doubts, the contract was “a no-brainer,” as he believed Jaylen “deserved it”. “The best year of his career, and he was rewarded for that,” the forward said, showcasing his support.
Brown helped his team reach yet another Eastern Conference finals last season. He had his career-high performance in field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, rebounds per game, assists per game, and points per game in the previous season. That’s why Tatum displayed his faith in the 2-time All-Star stating, “It was the right time”.

Playing down on the numbers talk, the four-time All-Star mentioned, “People make a big deal of $300 million”. Pointing out the change in landscape, he highlighted, “Contracts will be $350 and then $370 million”. “That’s the way it’s going,” he said while divulging the truth of NBA money. This begs one question.

The franchise might do the exact same for their starman Tatum when he becomes eligible for an extension in the coming years. With the talks of the players being rewarded with offers close to $80 million per year, the market may witness a massive shift in the future.
