Is Coach Brown's frustration justified, or should the players take more responsibility for their losses?

Following the third straight loss, the Sacramento Kings locker room seemed to have a mix-up! The Californian team had everything in its bag to dominate this season. A powerful frontcourt, a star guard, and a deep roster. Nevertheless, the team seemed to have missed the trick. Now, DeMar DeRozan and De’Aaron Fox turn the spotlight on their teammates after Mike Brown’s meltdown revelation at the post-game presser after throwing the game away to the Brooklyn Nets.

Tonight, the Kings faced yet another loss with the same recurring pattern. After a slow start to the game, the team succumbed to a late comeback. Speaking of the trend, Coach Brown said, “We have to embrace what the game plan is, and this is two nights in a row too we come out and we can’t, we don’t execute the first play, the right way.” That’s literally a helpless cry from a head coach.

Following that, DeMar and Fox took the helpless coach’s side. In the post-game presser, the reporters didn’t hesitate to bring up Brown’s revelation. In response, DeMar picked on his teammates, saying, “Just gotta pay attention, you know, you got to understand, that’s an opportunity for us to come out and get some easy… I think when we do that wrong, that’s what steam rolls us into those slow starts.” While the new Kings’ player agreed to Brown’s criticism, the seasoned Kings’ guard also had the same take.

De’Aaron Fox, responding to the same question, said, “Just remember, I mean, we write it up on the board. We have to be able to go out there and execute the play. Especially for guys who don’t play a lot… You mess it up a lot of times, you could come out immediately. Whatever five we have out there, rather starting 5 or whoever is out there, we all have to be in sync and, and be able to execute.” So, who is to blame? Let’s find out.

What’s wrong with DeMar DeRozan & Co.? Why are they struggling to convert wins?

While Coach Mike Brown pointed out the players’ inability to executive the plays on the court, there’s another growing concern within the side. With Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan in the front court, the team will have an endless supply of two-pointers one after the other. On the other hand, the team has De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, Kevin Huerter, Doug McDermott, and Trey Lyles to take care of perimeter buckets.

While Fox is busy going up and down the lane, the team can’t entirely rely on him for the high-arching buckets. However, the rest haven’t shown up with their best performances in the season. Notably, going by the numbers, the Kings aren’t really a three-point-driven side, as they stand in the 22nd spot for the number three-point attempts.

Considering the rank, the team is supposed to have a better shooting percentage since they are critical of their three-point shot selection. Despite that, the team has a poor shooting percentage, standing 24th in the league. Moreover, Murray, Hunter, McDermott, and Llyles have a three-point % under 33.8%. So, Coach Mike Brown may also have to strengthen his bench. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
