Paul George, the Los Angeles Clippers’ star forward, is entering his 14th season in the NBA and spent his first 7 years with the Indiana Pacers. The 9-time All-Star, earning four of those with Indiana, is considered one of the league’s top-tier wings. However, his recent return to Indiana for his 9th All-Star appearance didn’t entirely receive a warm welcome. How was he received by the fans? Not too happily, says PG-13!
In his latest podcast episode of Podcast P with Paul George, he discussed his mixed reception back in Indiana. When asked, George replied, “I mean, obviously it’s dope to be back here where it started. Nine All-Star appearances.”
However, he continued, “I got some boos earlier today. So I don’t know what to expect…They booed me at the All-Star practice…but when I walk in here, it’s like a general warm welcome but you know when you get a bunch of them where I can see them they’re going to do it collectively.”

During his 7 seasons with the Pacers, Indiana went through a “golden era”, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals twice. Drafted 10th overall, George developed into a four-time All-Star with the Pacers. Throughout his time in Indy, he averaged over 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Unfortunately, both Conference Finals appearances ended in heartbreak against the Miami Heat’s “Big Three” of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
The landscape changed in 2014 with James’ return to Cleveland. But sadly, a major leg injury suffered by George while playing for Team USA in the summer of 2014 derailed the Pacers’ championship aspirations. Despite missing the entire following season, George bounced back, averaging 18.1 points per game on his return.
Championship hopes for the Clippers
Repping Team West in the All-Star game, PG-13 managed 13 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists, but his team ultimately lost to Team East led by Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Trade rumors have recently been going around the 33-year-old forward. While he has the option to opt out of his contract with the Clippers, he is expected to stay after Kawhi Leonard’s extension. A return to Indiana has been discussed, with the potential to form a trio with Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam.
Additionally,
reports suggest the Philadelphia 76ers are also interested in George’s situation, potentially wishing to throw their hat in the ring if PG becomes available.ADVERTISEMENT

The ball is in Paul’s court. But for now, he’s focused on leading the Clippers (37-19), currently sitting comfortably at a 4th place in the Western Conference, to that championship ring.
