Tyrese Haliburton's gold medal antics—pure fun or a bit too much? What's your take?

Tyrese Haliburton probably had the easiest way to win an Olympic gold. The veteran superstars on the side took care of the tough job, winning 6 games in a row to clinch Team USA’s fifth consecutive gold. However, this didn’t stop the 24-year-old from celebrating his first medal. In fact, the Indiana Pacers star took the celebration to another level, involving his family in a viral trend. Above all, it left Paul George and other NBA stars in a laugh riot.

Every odd season will have a wild social media trend, taking over the world. No one can really find the origin of it or the point behind it. At the end of the day, it’s just fun. Just like the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’, now the ‘Just Give Me My Money’ trend has taken over social media and a few NBA stars. This time, it’s Haliburton. He brought out his family for the video and, hilariously, it was his father, John Haliburton, who was left hanging at the end.

Reacting to the video, plenty of NBA stars swarmed the comments section. Former Pacers star, Paul George wasn’t happy with Haliburton, pulling out the trick on his dad, as he jokingly, “Aye man (laughing emoji) I love pops dawg.” Following PG, Pascal Siakam, Buddy Hield, TJ McConnell, Tyler Herro, Buddy Hield, Jaren Jackson Jr., and a few others dropped in the laughing emojis. Especially, the Miami Heat star Tyler Herro sided with PG’s feelings, as he wrote, “nah John the (goat emoji).”

Nevertheless, Tyrese Haliburton‘s patience and sacrifice in Paris paid him off well. While many argued that Jayson Tatum deserved more minutes on the floor, the Pacers guard barely played any minutes on his entire trip. Out of the six games, he played 3 games at an average of 8 minutes per game with 2.7 ppg.

John Haliburton wasn’t the only victim

Before John Haliburton could fall prey to the trend, the NBA world witnessed two other victims. The Baby-faced Assassin, Stephen Curry, began this trend. The 4x NBA Champ assembled his entire family in front of the camera, except for Dell Curry and his kids. Notably, Steph did this trend as he rocked his newborn baby in his arms. Anyhow, it was his mother, Sonya Curry, who was left hanging in the video. It’s always the eldest in the house who becomes the victim of this trend.

Have an interesting take?

Nevertheless, it wasn’t the case with Jayson Tatum. Following Steph’s family, JT took a chance at the trend, and it was his son Deuce who got tricked. Now that the trend has gone viral in the NBA world, we may get to see a lot of them coming our way in the remainder of the off-season.
