The Los Angeles Clippers are on a roll this season, with a 30-14 record and leading the Pacific Division. The star-studded team is currently on a five-game winning streak that was set off with a 128-117 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on 16th January. Paul George stole the show by dropping the highest points of the night with 38. This was a season-high achievement which was accompanied by seven rebounds and five assists.
PG went all out with the 3s, and with less than one and a half minutes left in the final quarter, he sank another 3. As a celebration, he did Steph Curry‘s iconic ‘shimmy’ dance. Without an original signature move of his own, PG admits that he had to borrow Steph’s move due to a special guest.
In an episode of PG’s show Podcast P With Paul George, he finally clears the air and explains how he ended up with the ‘shimmy’. Turns out, former world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather was watching the game from the courtside. George shared, “You know who I was looking at? I was looking at Floyd. So, at first I was just like galloping, right? And then me and Floyd locked eyes and so that’s when the shimmy like ‘alright let me swag out now’, like that’s where the shimmy came.”

PG13 admits that initially, it wasn’t his intention to do Steph’s signature move, but somewhere along the line, he locked eyes with Mayweather and the shimmy took over his body. Rest assured, PG promises that he will get creative and come up with an original move. He asserts that his goal is to get on the latest update of the NBA 2K with the new celebration. Regardless of the moves, PG is here to win this season.
Eyes locked on the big prize
PG’s sensational performance against the Thunder resulted in him sinking 18 of the 38 points in the fourth quarter alone. During the post-game interview, he expressed his appreciation for his teammates and reaffirmed his goal of winning the Championship this season. More focused than ever, he added, “I know what I’m capable of. I know what I can do in this league. … Honestly, I’m just committed to winning and that’s it.”

King George has been having a healthy season, missing only two games so far. Putting up averages of 23.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, he has been a huge part of the Clippers’ success this season. The team is leading the Western Conference in third place and if they can remain healthy, this could be a great chance for them as a title contender.
