History tends to repeat itself if you don’t correct your mistakes. After another teething encounter with the Mavs, the Wolves lost tonight’s crucial Game 2 108-109, yet again on home court.
Just like that, the Mavs are in control with a 2-0 lead as the series now heads to Dallas for the next two games. Luka Doncic unsurprisingly stole the show with a scrumptious game-winning three-pointer over Rudy Gobert, leaving even fellow NFL and NBA stars awestruck.
Unlike Wednesday’s game, the Wolves initially held a tight grip over the Mavs, leading by twelve points at halftime. Then in the second half, Luka and Kyrie Irving, as they have done time and again, powered through Minnesota with ease, leveling the score. The Wolves, nevertheless, had a golden chance to even the series as they held a two-point lead in the final seconds. But that’s when Luka Magic stepped in and shattered Minnesota’s hopes after a crucial mistake from the Wolves.

In true superstar fashion, Luka came out of the timeout and took the ball in his hands. Then, successfully switching onto Gobert and realizing the mismatch, Luka pulled all the dribble moves out of his bag and made a fool of the four-time DPOY. After creating space, Luka went into his signature step back and drained the three-pointer to give the Mavs a one-point lead. Silencing the crowd, Luka yelled and screamed to celebrate his heroic shot. But the game wasn’t over as the Wolves had possession with three seconds on the clock. Unfortunately, Naz Reid’s game-winning attempt rimmed out and the Mavs stole the victory on the road.
Luka Magic takes over the internet
With Luka taking over at the biggest stage, the internet took notice of his magical performance. From his NBA peers to stars from other sports, everyone was stunned after witnessing Luka’s dominance against the Wolves. Former Champion Kendrick Perkins tweeted about how heartbreaking this loss would be for Minnesota, all thanks to Luka, “That damn Luka!!!! That L might have snatched the soul outta the Wolves.”

Even Luka’s veteran leader and Mavericks’ legend Dirk Nowitzki was left speechless after watching Luka dominate and had just one word to express how he was feeling.

Doncic’s draft class partner Trae Young complimented what a great fit Luka and Kyrie are with each other. Combining for 63 points in the last game, Luka and Kyrie dominated again in Game 2 and proved to be a nightmare for the Wolves. While Luka finished with a triple-double, Kyrie had twenty points.

Believing in Luka Magic long before it happened, legend Jamal Crawford miraculously called out the exact play the Mavs would run in the final seconds and even predicted that Luka would hit that patented one-legged step back. And when Crawford’s prophecy came true, he was over the moon.
