A new plotline emerged out of nowhere amidst the stagnant Jimmy Butler drama. Following the suspension, the NBA world expected an instant trade that would allow Miami to finally bid adieu to the star forward, but that wasn’t the case. However, in return, the Heat franchise, who were reportedly down to work toward JB’s wish to trade him out, seemed to have changed their minds! Pat Riley & Co. expects the star to join the team normally after the suspension. Amid this weird situation, a new $121 million trade idea has emerged.
Former NBA Champion and analyst Kendrick Perkins dropped the crucial trade update involving Kevin Durant. Before you get excited, no, the Valley side isn’t trading the Slim Reaper for Jimmy Butler. But it is even more interesting!
Big Perk, featured in the latest episode of the Road Trippin pod, said, “From my sources, they are telling me that the Suns have a 2-year, $121 million extension waiting on Jimmy I ain’t no genius but that’s like 60 a year.”

“Somebody drunk over there!” Channing Frye exclaimed.
Perk added, “Here’s the next thing. It’s about relationships. And the relationship is Jimmy Butler and Kevin Durant… Not only Phoenix, yes the organization wants him. Do you know why? Because KD wants Jimmy Butler, and if he does get Jimmy Butler which he will, they’ll both gonna sign contract extensions.” Now that we know the Suns have shown interest, will JB agree to it?
This dilemma popped up only because of the recent reports from Anthony Chiang and Barry Jackson stating that the Heat expect Jimmy Butler to “rejoin” the team after the suspension. A few days ago, the team suspended the 6x NBA All-Star on the grounds of conduct detrimental to the team. The star publicly expressed his wish to get traded. So, if he isn’t traded in this 7-game suspension, which will end on 15th January, the Heat might still have him on board. But the question is, how will the Suns make this trade work?
How will the Suns handle the Jimmy Butler scenario?

With the ambition to assemble a super team, Mat Ishbia put the team in the second tax apron situation, following a gutsy ‘all in or nothing’ principle. The Phoenix team has three players with an annual salary of above $50 million. While Big Perk’s report stated that the Suns wish to rope the star in for a $121 million 2-year deal, it will push them to shell out $60 million annually.
This situation ultimately means the Suns have to show one more of their superstars the back door. Since the trade has come into the picture because of Kevin Durant, we have to rule him out of the equation. So, now it’s either between Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Importantly, the latter has the rare no-trade clause and also recently made a stern statement against the trade.

When a reporter asked if he was pushed to the bench as a stepping stone to the Jimmy Butler trade, Bradley Beal said, “If so, I need to be addressed because I hold the cards. Until I’m addressed and somebody says something different, then I’ll be a Sun.” So, the question now is, will the Phoenix team let go of their team’s centerpiece and an out-of-form D-Book for Butler?
