Luka Doncic, though topped the NBA trade discussion, has had a disturbing phase for a few weeks. And he finally seems to have a breakthrough game for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Slovenian point guard put up a stellar performance against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, scored 32 points, and ensured his team’s victory. But even after a jersey change, a past allegation seems to haunt the 25-year-old even at his new home. After being through so much, what is affecting that young guy, or did something trigger his memory?

It was a great night on the court for Doncic, but during the matchup, something off-putting caught the eye of several people. The No.77 was making a play during the matchup when he was allegedly fouled by a Nuggets player. Doncic naturally after the play was complaining to the referee about the foul. But what built up the trigger was, a fan said something harsh to the Lakers point guard. Already living with his insecurity, this one comment seems to have hit his raw nerve.

In a video that surfaced, a fan is allegedly seen saying “Shut up fat boy” to Doncic. This is not a good sight given that this was reportedly the reason why Dallas traded the Slovenian superstar to the Lakers. Reportedly, a key factor influencing Mavericks GM Nico Harrison’s for the trade was Doncic’s health and conditioning. Although this comment did not seem to catch Doncic’s eye, this is quite disrespectful toward him.

Doncic scored a solid 32 points along with grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out seven assists. However, this isn’t the only controversy the Lakers superstar is tangled with at the moment. Just recently, a hype video featuring the Slovenian star went viral for all the wrong reasons, with the musician who made it under a lot of scrutiny.

This included turning his body into a shadow or pasting a logo over the point guard’s face. While the thought behind it might be to focus on the current players, it has had the opposite effect. The fans were quick to call out the franchise and even pointed out that Maxi Kleber who was part of the deal was clearly visible in the video.

Now, after taking the video down, Dallas rapper Dorrough Music, who is the writer and performer of the song released an apology on X. “As a lifelong Mavericks fan and someone who takes great pride in the game of basketball, I would never be part of anything intended to remove, censor, or disrespect Luka Dončić,” Dorrough wrote on X. Well, the apology might help ease the matter, that seems to have struck a nerve in Dallas who feel betrayed by the trade.
