As the NBA season reached its last lap, the ball fans await the next big thing, Team USA in the Paris Olympics. LeBron James has already begun preparing for the challenge, as he updated via social media. Following the superstar, the Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid, who struggled with multiple injuries, dropped a promising piece of news on his medical condition, while enjoying a bit of punditry on the pre-game show of the UEFA Champions League Finals.
Featuring on CBS Sports, the Sixer said, “I feel great. Much better. The Knee the face. Much better.” Embiid pushed through the playoffs with multiple injuries like orbital fractures, a torn thumb ligament, knee soreness, ankle issues, and a torn meniscus. He also developed a shocking health condition in the first playoff round, one which mildly paralyzed a side of his face. To everyone’s relief, in the recent update, the star center cleared the air and everyone’s concerns straightaway. It isn’t a positive only for the Sixers fans but also for Team USA fans!
In April, the team announced the squad for the upcoming Olympics. Even though the American side has an exemplary track record in Olympiad, their recent performances in the FIBA WC 2023 forced the superstars to unite for the cause. The roster includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, and several other superstars from the NBA.

However, the big man duties were trusted on Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis. Considering the Sixers’ star MVP stature, he could start ahead of AD in the Olympics. And this latest health update has likely solidified the big man’s place in the starting lineup. The National side announced that the 12-man squad will assemble on July 6 in Las Vegas for the training camp.
While Joel Embiid made it to Team USA, will he remain with the Sixers?
The former MVP is nothing short of a menace on the court, helping the Sixers single-handedly win games. The only problem with the star is his inability to stay fit throughout the season. Notably, this season, he missed 39 games out of which the team lost 27. Moreover, Embiid has issues, staying fit. These injuries, as per reporter Jake Fischer, have forced the agents to ask an important question.
He said on ‘Ball Don’t Lie’, “I’ve heard from multiple agents that if their client want to go to the Sixers, they are going to be advising that guy; ‘are you sure you want to hitch your wagon to Joel Embiid, who has never proven to be healthy in the post-season’”.
However, the Sixers have a huge $65 million cap space, heading into the 0ffseason. This could enable the Philly side to overcome their postseason woes. This huge cap space will enable them to hire a superstar in the starting lineup, reducing the burden on the big man.
