With WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown coming to the City of New York and taking over Madison Square Garden, fans couldn’t wait to see what’s in store for them. And they were treated to an unexpected showdown between NBA superstars Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Haliburton. However, the iconic moment soon turned into a nightmare for every Knicks fan when they saw Brunson grimacing in pain while checking on his surgically repaired hand during the segment. But New York’s beloved superstar made sure to end his supporters’ panic by revealing the truth behind the scary moment.
As the fans feared that Brunson might have re-aggravated his injury during his WWE cameo, the Knicks superstar tweeted after the event, “Just lived out a childhood dream and yes the hand fine lol yall can relax.” Followed by a laughing emoji. That message brought huge relief for fans because it has just been a little over a month since JB fractured his left hand during Game 7 of the series against Indiana and had to undergo surgery.
Moreover, the moment looked really scary on television. Following a hard-fought battle with Logan Paul and Santos Escobar, LA Knight came out victorious in the triple-threat match to qualify for the upcoming Money in the Bank event. However, as Knight prepared to celebrate his big win, Tyrese Haliburton and Logan Paul tried to pull off a sneak attack on him, with the Pacers superstar even wearing brass knuckles for some extra leverage.

Then, the MSG crowd went ballistic as they saw Jalen Brunson entering the ring with a steel chair in his hand to even the odds for LA Knight. But as Brunson was entering the ring, it looked like he applied some extra pressure on his injured hand, and then proceeded to look at it in visible pain. So, it’s good to know from his tweet that the incident might have been his way of selling his injury to WWE fans and not an actual mishap in the ring.
Jalen Brunson’s Paris dream still seems far-fetched
Although Brunson’s WWE appearance and the wild segment with Haliburton didn’t lead to an actual injury, his dream of representing Team USA in the upcoming Paris Olympics still seems hard to achieve. Averaging 28.7 points this season and having an MVP-caliber season, there is no denying that JB was one of the best players in the league this year. Regardless, he failed to make the cut for the final Team USA selection. “I feel like I should have been one. I would have loved to play.” He recently addressed the heartbreaking snub.
While he didn’t make the initial team, there is still a possibility that Brunson could book his ticket to Paris in case any player is unable to make it due to any lingering injury. Notably, Haliburton, Embiid, and Kawhi, these three Team USA players are currently recovering from injuries they suffered this season. However, the latest report suggests that all three superstars are ready to participate in the upcoming Las Vegas training camp for the Olympics preparation starting next week. Even the team’s head coach Steve Kerr said, “We expect everybody to be good to go.”

And if every selected player goes to Paris, then Brunson will probably have to kiss his dream goodbye and wait at least another four more years to make an appearance in the Olympics.
