Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is slowly establishing himself as the new face of the NBA. Currently in his fourth year, the player has led the franchise through a remarkable season run. He easily defeated the Suns in the first round of the playoffs and got the team to the semifinals for the first time since 2004. Thanks to his remarkable performance and growing popularity, the player has now been named to the elite roster representing the USA in the upcoming Paris Olympics. No one is more thrilled about this fact than two renowned NBA enthusiasts.

A few hours ago, Snoop Dogg appeared on ESPN sportscaster Stephen A. Smith’s personal podcast. At the same time, when asked about his pick of the ‘new face of the NBA, the rapper didn’t have to think for long before affirming his faith in Anthony Edwards. Smith agreed with the viewpoint, claiming that the shooting guard is “on another level.

Impressed not only by his on-court skills but also by his off-charm, Snoop Dogg believes that this is the individual that Team USA needs to bring home the gold medal. “I seen him in the USA, balling with them, and I’m like, ‘Ok, they need to put him on the team with the big dogs when they go back to Paris, so he can get some redemption’” said the 52-year-old rapper.

The ‘Redemption’ that Snoop Dogg claimed the ‘Ant-Man’ needed was a reference to when the player represented Team USA during the 2023 FIBA World Cup. He was a member of a roster of other NBA players like Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Austin Reaves, etc. He led the scoring effort in all eight games by averaging 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. During a faceoff against Lithuania, he scored 35 points in 29 minutes. This was the second-highest scoring total made by a U.S. player in a single game at the FIBA World Cup, right behind the 35 made by Carmelo Anthony back in 2006. While his performance was impressive, the rest of the roster couldn’t perform well enough to compete against the rival teams. In the end, Team USA finished in the 4th position.

Fortunately, what happened in the FIBA World Cup is the past. This time, the player will be participating in the Olympics on a roster made up of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and other players who represent the very best that the modern NBA has to offer. Snoop Dogg hopes that these ‘big dogs’ will finally add a gold medal to Anthony Edwards’ ‘International Career’ section of his resume.

It was certainly a good day for Minnesota fans when it was announced that Anthony Edwards would join the Team USA roster that would compete in the Paris Olympics. Furthermore, it was what the player may have been waiting to hear ever since he got drafted into the NBA 4 years ago. When the moment finally came, the player highlighted not only being aware of who he would be competing against but also who would be alongside him during that stage.

It’s going to mean a lotit’s going to be super fun seeing those guys (LeBron, Stephen, Durant) go to work, seeing how they work every day on their craft, said Edwards. If they need me, I’ll be out there ready to go.” While the 22-year-old is happy about playing alongside LeBron James and Stephen Curry, there is one player with whom he is ecstatic to share the stage: Kevin Durant.

Given that the Timberwolves eliminated the Suns from the playoffs by a 4-0 record, he also wouldn’t mind reminding Durant of the fact from time to time. “I got the utmost respect for KD, said Edwards, adding, I’m excited to play with him this summer, talk a little trash, and let him know I sent him home.”
