Can Luka Don?i? outshine Giannis Antetokounmpo in tonight's high-stakes semi-final clash?

The Olympic Qualifying Tournament is nearing its end. As the Greece OQT is down to its last four teams, Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo are set to face in the Semi-Finals. Greece topped Group B after a dominant victory over Egypt without the Greek Freak. On the other hand, Slovenia finished second place in Group A after their win over New Zealand. But as Slovenia prepares to take on Greece, who are hungry to make their return to the Olympics, they’ll have to take an optimistic approach.

Luka Doncic hasn’t performed well in this crucial tournament so far. In fact, his numbers don’t seem real considering his recent strong candidature for the MVVP. Luka put up 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in the loss against Croatia. The stat line is definitely appealing, but given that he shot 34.8% from the field and missed all his nine three-point attempts, Doncic was visibly struggling. However, his shooting slump didn’t end there. He dropped 36 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists versus New Zealand, still shooting well below 40% from the field. Is this alarming for Slovenian fans? Yes, as they are scheduled to play the best team of Greece OQT.

Giannis missed the game against Egypt because of a reported injury. He seemed to have suffered a minor injury in the game against the Dominican Republic, but managed to last throughout. Antetokounmpo shot perfectly from the field in the only game he played. While he took a rest in the previous, it was because of the obvious outcome. But is he facing any restrictions playing the next game? No, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be in the starting lineup against Luka Magic today.

This is truly the clash of titans. Both were named to this year’s All-NBA first team and were top candidates for the MVP award. It hasn’t been a month since the Finals ended and we now have yet another interesting battle. Slovenia qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics and went as far as the Semi-Finals against France. The dramatic game resulted in the Frenchmen qualifying for the Finals after a one-point victory. Greece, on the other hand, last appeared in the Olympics in 2008. And looking at their momentum, Greece is quite on the run.

Luka Doncic will need to be far more consistent

Doncic’s recent struggles will be a problem against Greece, who has been consistent on both ends of the floor. Giannis and company are dangerous from the outside, shooting 48% from deep as well as a 61% consistency from the field. Statistically, they’re a far better team than Slovenia. However, the Semis will be different. Not to mention, these guys are representing their country. The performance of both teams in the Semi-Finals will be expected to be at its peak regardless of their recent games.

The OQT couldn’t have been more interesting with this matchup in place. Apart from Team USA, the host will be one of the teams to look out for in Paris. Of course, the Olympics will feature either Doncic or Giannis. However, in both cases, it will be a sight to see. The two teams are healthy heading into the crucial game, as Slovenia will look to hold off the Greeks.
