Is Joel Embiid's move to Team USA a betrayal, or just a smart career decision?

The chaotic stenches of Joel Embiid’s citizenship are still not leaving him as the 30-year-old Philadelphia 76ers center received a bashing from the media again for his USA Basketball Olympic roster spot. It is to be noted that Embiid holds dual citizenship in America and France along with his homeland, Cameroon. Also, the French naturalization that he got was an official request from Embiid to the FFB President Jean Pierre-Siutat himself for giving him citizenship to get him to play for the French basketball team. But as it is well-known, he missed the European Championship and then months later got US citizenship to finally play with the American national basketball team ahead of the Paris Olympics.

But it did not go well with the American rapper Mase as he took a dig at Joel Embiid for getting a spot on the already stacked-up American Olympic basketball roster. “I’m just saying my observation. The only reason why the USA wants you[Embiid] on that team is because you give them their best chance at winning. …The only reason they have you there because they know that Anthony Davis will no be enough for Joker, “ Mase expressed his thoughts on why Embiid made it to the national team after getting citizenship on the ‘It is What it is’ podcast. Apparently, the USA team is sharing the same group as the Serbian team, which has 3x NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.

It is worth noting that Joker plays the same position as Embiid on the roster, that is, center. Therefore, to match the presence of 6x All-Star, team USA will need 7x All-Star Joel Embiid. The Sixers center also surpasses the height stature in comparison to Joker[6’11”] as he stands at an impressive 7-feet. Even on the technical end, Embiid got the upper hand as he averaged 34.7 points with the Sixers last season, while Jokic averaged only 26.4 points last season.

Nevertheless, the Anthony Davis angle that Mase talked about was due to the former’s stature at 6’10” feet. Also, he just averaged 24.7 points last season. So there is not an ounce of stopping Joker on any end. Neither on the physical end nor the scoring. But it was not only the need that Mase went after Embiid’s raw nerve.

American Rapper accuses Embiid of selling his country!

Joel Embiid playing in the Olympics for the American team has been a bone of contention for many. However, the American rapper Mase, in particular, hit that spot with his latest statement on Embiid when he said after explaining Sixers Center’s need, “You’re not only, will you be helping the US. You’re gonna be selling your country out.” Well, Mase cannot be on the bad end here, considering how the NBA community treats those who show disloyalty.

Even Kevin Durant is the biggest example of this charade. He has turned his back on someone particularly. Although he is not that loved despite his performances for moving from one team to another for championships ambitions. He did with OKC when he left it after 8 years to join the Dubs to win a ring. Notably, the Warriors were already on the verge of winning the championship around that time. So it was not so lovely to the NBA fans at all.
