“It’s an awful feeling to lose your home… I’m not sure I’ve wept or wailed like that in several years.” JJ Redick was left absolutely devastated after he lost his Palisades home in the LA wildfires. Although it was a rental property, the Lakers head coach revealed that he lost certain things that can never be replaced. But the show must go on and Redick was back to work last night, coaching his squad against the Spurs. Even his sons, Knox and Kai, accompanied him. And Chris Paul made sure they did not leave empty-handed as he understood exactly how it feels to have your family going through a difficult time.
In a wholesome gesture, CP walked up to JJ’s sons after last night’s win and gave them his game-worn jersey. He even autographed it. And he was not alone! Right next to him was Victor Wembanyama, who also presented his signed jersey to Knox and Kai. Moreover, the Spurs duo even clicked a picture with the boys.

Of course, this will be a memorable moment for Knox and Kai after the tumultuous week they endured. Turns out, JJ’s sons had a vast collection of autographed jerseys and cards from the players who visited their home for The Old Man & The Three podcast over the years. Unfortunately, they lost it all in the wildfires when their home burned down. Well, they can start fresh with Wemby and CP’s jerseys.
Obviously, Paul and JJ are great friends and were teammates during the Lob City Clippers era. And even though CP left LA long back, his family still lives in the City of Angels. Unfortunately, they too had to evacuate their home this past week because of the ongoing tragedy. Of course, it left Chris worried because he was 1,354 miles away in San Antonio, “It’s definitely scary, everything that is going on.” He even revealed that he had not seen his family “throughout all this” which is why he was excited to be playing in LA last night. Meanwhile, his wife, Jada, made sure to let Chris know that she was safe. “Yes, I’m in LA and I’m safe, but I’m also in LA and I’m sad.”

Victor Wembanyama reveals gesture to JJ Redick’s sons was Chris Paul’s idea
Well, Knox and Kai are huge hoop fans and CP knew it. That’s why he was the one who came up with the idea of giving them an autographed jersey after the game. And Wemby was fully on board, “Chris asked me earlier if it was okay for me to do that. I didn’t know they were huge fans like this. JJ is a person I like and he was directly impacted by this. So, if I can make his kids’ day, I’ll do it.”

Even JJ acknowledged Chris’ wholesome act and highlighted the brotherhood they share, “I mean Chris is like a brother to me… I appreciate all the love. Not surprised Chris did something like that.” Although they are fierce competitors on the court, JJ proudly said that Chris is part of his inner circle of brothers. Sure enough, the gesture proves how much the Point God cares about JJ and his family. What are your thoughts about Chris’ gift to Knox and Kai?
