Miami Heat faced Orlando Magic and were able to secure a narrow victory with 99-96. D. Robinson scored 23 points in his 41-minute play while Bam Adebayo chipped in 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists in his 39-minute play. For Magic, P. Banchero was the top scorer with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. The coach of the Heat Erik Spoelstra is a happy man tonight.
Erik enjoys a warm relationship with the President of the Miami Heat, Pat Riley. Also, he recently got an eight-year contract extension worth $120 million. Further, Erik is the longest-tenured coach in the NBA after Greg Popovic and shared a piece of advice from his benefactor Riley after the victory.

After the game, the coach of the Miami Heat Erik Spoelstra shared what could have been the mantra of success for today’s game. He laid bare the words of wisdom he got from the President of the Miami Heat, Pat Riley. A former player, coach, and basketball executive, Riley has a lot of experience concerning the hardwood. Eric revealed the strategy crafted by the President of Heat, “It’s ok to keep the score down and defend, and find a way to win in the end.”
Erik Spoelstra mentions Pat Riley telling him over the last 24 hours:

The advice could have been powerful enough to register a victory. And it was too powerful to keep the scores below 100. The Heat’s victory saw the game turning into one of the lowest-scoring games in the league. Additionally, it was the seventh NBA game in the season without teams going past a 100 score.
Whether the defensive mindset encouraged by Riley’s advice was responsible for that or not, the injuries of the players certainly were. Jimmy Butler did not participate in the game due to a sprained ankle. Further, Wendell Carter Jr. had a sore right knee. Kyle Lowry had a sprained left hand and could not participate. But Celeb Martin came back to the game after seven games due to his sprained ankle. Riley’s suggestion for a defensive strategy helped Erik, but the two share a strong bond of respect and gratitude.
Erik-Riley bromance
After the tenure of Erik was extended, he spoke highly about President Riley. He shared that he did not aim to take it for granted. While expressing gratitude towards Riley, Erick said, “Pat is the biggest mentor I’ve ever had in my life. This is a very unique position to be in, in any professional sport, and I just value that Pat understands that because he’s done it before me. He’s guided me through all of the madness of this business.”

And Riley too would love to have a coach like Erik who recently got his name etched in the top 15 coaches in NBA history. Erik began to coach for the Heat in the 2008-09 season and has an impressive 725-506 record. He has won two titles in his six NBA appearances.
