Could a LeBron, Steph, and KD team-up redefine NBA history, or is it just a pipe dream?

Don’t you hate one of those feelings that won’t let you look past what’s ahead and stop you from moving on? LeBron James is creating the same situation among the hopeful emotional fools of the NBA world. How exactly? Go to his Instagram account and check the display picture, a clear sign of LeBron looking forward to his Lakers life with his son, Bronny James. But the words on his lips tell a different story.

During an interview at the Lakers practice for the nth time, LeBron James asked about his summer alongside Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. Remember the display picture-changing thing mentioned above? That should’ve buried all the buzz about a possible team-up between Curry and LeBron. But in fact, it didn’t, as the Lakers star again relived his Olympic Dream, reviving the hopes of their fantasy team-up. “How do you lose?”, LeBron cross-questioned a reporter when asked about his dynamic with Steph and KD. “We good? Coulda. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, but we didn’t. You have myself, KD and Steph. You have that type of firepower at any minute, at any moment. You’ve seen throughout the whole summer. We all got opportunities. You saw what Steph did in the gold medal game. You see what he was doing, you know, in the semi-finals.”

He further added how KD was hit on all cylinders after returning from his calf issue. LeBron also mentioned how he himself sprinkled a moment or two of brilliance throughout the tournament. The 39-year-old then ended his argument with by saying, “How do you lose when you have 3 of the best players that ever played a game of basketball?” But despite this connection, the was some resentment between Bron and Curry. And why wouldn’t there be? The two have battled it out at the peak of the NBA mountain for the better part of the last decade. But that’s something they call a “healthy resentment”.

LeBron James vs Stephen Curry — a surefire blockbuster that dominated the league like the iconic Messi-Ronaldo, Federer-Nadal, and Brady-Manning rivalries of sports. “It was like a healthy resentment of somebody that’s standing in your way,” Curry said about his rivalry with LeBron. “But through it all, like there’s obviously the utmost respect for who he is as a person and a player and like how good he is and the challenge of trying to beat him and trying to solve that problem every year.” The duo have faced each other in 22 NBA Finals games over the years with Curry having the upper hand when it comes to titles.

Despite that, LeBron was in agreement with the Warriors guard. “The game of basketball don’t last forever,” James said. “You don’t want to waste the opportunity to be able to have a relationship with someone.” The GOATs of this generation will again suit up to face each other in the new season, but just as LeBron said, the game doesn’t last forever. So with the time ticking before they ultimately decide to call it a day on the court, the only thing we can do is to embrace it, savor it while it lasts.
