Caitlin Clark might have had some bumps starting her season as a professional WNBA player. However, the 22-year-old phenom has stood steadfast through it all. ‘What doesn’t break you makes you stronger’ seems apt for Caitlin. And now as the WNBA Rookie of the Year race has Clark as a massive favorite, fellow Indiana star, Tyrese Haliburton turns into a fan, it would seem.
Taking to X, the young guard posted a reminder for the NBA world. “Hope y’all seeing what 22 doin at Gainbridge.” A reference to the Fever’s ongoing match with the Mercury. Leading the way with 29 points and 10 assists, her 10th double-double, Clark and the Fever beat a short-handed Mercury 98-89.
Caitlin has been on a scorching path of creating and surpassing records since her college days. The 6’0 point guard’s rookie season is no different, either. Having picked up her 10th double-double, she’s just one shy of registering the most double-doubles by a rookie in the WNBA since Courtney Vandersloot in 2011.

Haliburton, for his part, was in complete awe watching the Caitlin Clark live-action, courtside. Media personality, Rodney D. Smith II tweeted Tyrese’s reactions on his X account, captioning, “The reactions,” followed by a crying and laughing emoji, and tagging him at the end.

What’s your perspective on:
Does Tyrese Haliburton have a point about the WNBA's global recognition, or is he off the mark?
Have an interesting take?
That’s the Caitlin Clark effect! And it’s not just Tyrese Haliburton who is slack-jawed witnessing the Iowa alum in her glory.
The Indiana Fever made a bold Caitlin Clark statement
We already saw that Clark is the heavy favorite to win the Rookie of the Year. And it’s not simply because of her worldwide popularity. For one, her never-ending (it feels so!) and decorated resume at just the mere age of 22 is enough to make your case. However, the WNBA All-Star is just getting started.
The Fever, for their part, made sure to set the stage. Ahead of the Phoenix vs Indiana matchup tonight, the latter took to X to post a 1:10-long video clip of Caitlin Clark wreaking havoc from downtown. Now comes the interesting part. Take a look at their caption: “Caitlin Clark’s three point game? elite. our rookie of the year can put on a show,” followed by a star-struck emoji. The Fever did not leave anything to the imagination with their bold statement.

But of course, Clark’s elite treys aren’t the only reason she is a front-runner for the ROTY. From being the first rookie in WNBA history to hit a triple-double (against New York Liberty in early July), and the most assists in a single game, to ranking top in scoring, assists, steals, free-throw percentage, and many more, Caitlin Clark is the “Alien” of the WNBA. She’s unlike anything the women’s basketball has seen.
