Team USA for the Paris Olympics has happily dispersed after bagging Gold against the host nation in the Finals. However, the fun is not over yet, as the offseason is still on. And the comical duo Kevin Durant and Anthony Edwards did not fail to deliver off the court as well. After securing Team USA’s 5th consecutive Gold medal and Steph Curry’s 1st, no doubt the occasion called for a grand celebration. But Ant-Man and KD could not relish ‘the moment’ as per their latest revelation. Was it just a joke or a sarcastic humor?
In their recent appearance with Jalen Rose on a Fanatics Fest panel, the Wolves star and Durant shared a lot of banter on stage. However, one of their post-victory statements left fans in splits. “Really celebrating the locker room for real cuz me and Steph had to take like a drug test or something. It’s only right. They gave Steph one, “ Anthony Edwards said, who initially looked sad, went on with his rant. Further moving ahead with his jibe on Curry, Edwards said, “He was supposed to got one after the first Serbia game.”
What Edwards was implying there was about Stephen Curry‘s performance against Serbia in the semi-finals. Chef Curry cooked the Serbian squad solely with his 3 three-pointers, stacking up 36 points. His performance was so jaw-dropping that Anthony Edwards believed he should have gone through a drug test!

However, it was all just a funny exchange. Even KD said, “What?!!…” when his mentee mentioned the “drug test” on the panel.
From KD’s clap backs, to drug tests after winning gold, and everything in between… the KD/Anthony Edwards panel did NOT disappoint 😂@theantedwards_ | @KDTrey5 | @JalenRose | @Fanatics | @FanaticsFest pic.twitter.com/opYo9QrzWb

Though Anthony Edwards casually revealed the facts, did the athletes really get tested in the Paris Olympics?
Anthony Edwards was not joking about the drug test!
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Olympic Committee's scrutiny ruin the gold medal joy for Curry, Durant, and Edwards?
Have an interesting take?
What Anthony Edwards said on the panel was just casual banter. However, he was not completely wrong about it. Doping is not allowed in the Olympics, as we all know. That’s why, in 1999, the World Anti-Doping Agency came into power to maintain discipline at Summer games. So, from the perspective of the United States, every athlete goes through a test who is “participating at an event or competition sanctioned.”
This includes both the Olympics and Paralympic athletes. These players go through in and out-of-competition drug tests at intervals as per the schedule of the testing agency. However, the selection is random in such tests and Team USA must’ve gone through a test before and after the Paris Olympics final. No doubt they got out clear. That’s why Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant were able to tell the tale. But it was hilarious how Ant-Man was presenting such a serious piece of information to the fans in his style.
That’s Anthony Edwards for you.

“Basketball is my life. If I find that someone I have been competing against has an unfair advantage, I am going to be really upset about it. I think everyone needs to take that stance,” Lauren Jackson, the 2006 FIBA Women’s World Champion, and her words still stand as a testament to this day, for all the athletes representing a badge at any level, be it amateur or professional.
