What seemed like the end of their problems, has only brought them more trouble. Steve Kerr boldly started Dennis Schroder today, which many thought would solve their backup point guard problems. The Warriors were hoping he’d be a dependable starting backcourt mate for Stephen Curry. Golden State is playing the Memphis Grizzlies, well, not really playing because they’re being SMOKED!
Thursday night’s game saw Dennis Schroder join Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney in the starting lineup. This was the 15th different starting five the Warriors have rolled out this season. So far, the newcomer has played 22 minutes and only scored 5 points. Much lower than his average of 18.4 for the Nets this season.
At the time of writing this article, the Warriors are trailing by a whopping 50 points! And no one is happy. The Dub Nation is on Kerr’s back. They are blasting him on X.

Calls mounting for termination of Steve Kerr, Dub Nation has had enough
One user wrote, “I don’t care how experienced Steve Kerr is, starting a brand new addition to a team instead of easing him in to the rotation is novice coaching.” By not easing Dennis Schroder in, Coach Kerr potentially added more pressure to a situation that was already tense, especially with the Bay Area side badly trailing by such a wide margin.
Starting a player who’s still adjusting to the system, rather than letting him find his rhythm off the bench, can disrupt team chemistry. It also puts unnecessary stress on the new guy, who may not yet be fully in sync with the other players.
Another netizen felt the water was over the bridge now, and they reacted with, “Fire. Steve. Kerr. FIre. Steve. Kerr. Fire. Steve. Kerr. Fire Steve. Kerr. FIre. Steve. Kerr.” This reaction speaks to the growing frustration among fans who feel that Kerr’s wild coaching decisions are to blame for the team’s disastrous performance. The constant failures this season, including inconsistent rotations (in a bid to find a reliable one), questionable lineup decisions, and lackluster responses to in-game situations, have led many to question Kerr’s ability to still lead this team.

While it was believed Schroder would be the backup point guard, Kerr had other plans. “Steve Kerr you can’t start Dennis schroder with curry” reacted one fan.

Curry thrives with spacing and off-ball movement, which is crucial for his game. Having another ball-dominant guard like Schroder alongside the Splash Bro can potentially crowd the court, limiting the space Curry needs to operate effectively. The German newcomer is known for his ability to handle the ball and create plays, but his style can clash with Steph’s dynamic gameplay.
A fan pointed out, “Steve Kerr needs to be fired, why is Kuminga getting less minutes than Podziemski, Trayce, & Slow Mo? *skull* *crying emoji*”. Jonathan Kuminga, a young, athletic, and ‘beloved’ forward, with incredible upside, has shown flashes of brilliance since entering the league. JK’s talent and potential are undeniable and this proves itself in GSW’s consistent hesitance to trade him.
Brandin Podziemski, a rookie, is a promising shooter but doesn’t have the same level of athleticism or defensive impact as Kuminga. Moreover, he is yet to break free from a much worse version of a ‘sophomore slump’. Similarly, Trayce Jackson-Davis is a solid player, but his minutes have come at the expense of JK, leaving fans questioning the logic behind these decisions.

“Kuminga is Warriors third best player and Steve Kerr not gonna play him,” said one user. At just 21, Kuminga possesses the athleticism, versatility, and defensive capabilities that make him one of their most impactful players, especially in terms of upside. His combination of size and speed gives him a unique skill set that can contribute on both ends of the floor. On offense, JK has shown that he can finish around the rim, make plays off the dribble, and stretch the floor, but he’s not getting minutes, which is truly frustrating.
