If you were introduced to the world of basketball today, you surely would’ve thought that Bronny James is the hottest new talent on the block. Why? Just look around at all the reports still popping up about Bronny. It’s been over 24 hours since his pick to the Lakers. But the buzz around the draft is still over the standard noise limits.
The subject of Nepotism is the origin of all the ruckus around Bronny James. Everyone’s at the Lakers and the 19-year-old’s throat for their alleged global promotion of nepotism. But ESPN had them covered from the incoming hailstorm, at least according to Doug Gottlieb.
The Fox radio host used his voice to full effect on the latest episode of Doug Gottlieb Show. According to the analyst, ESPN’s coverage to defend the draft pick was “embarrassing”. Former Warriors GM, Bob Myers was on his crosshair as Gottlieb shredded him with his opinion. “I’ve never heard anything like this. The whole thing is a complete debacle and Bob Myers who I like, dude you sit there acting like you’re breaking news saying a Rich Paul is calling other teams telling them not to draft Bronny,” Gottlieb said on his show.

For context, Bob Myers revealed on night two of the draft that Rich Paul gave the other NBA teams a hands-off warning. If they picked Bronny, the guard would move to Australia. Gottlieb further highlighted, that Bronny only worked out with two teams, the Lakers and the Suns. Even if the Lakers did not pick him at 55, they could’ve signed him as an unrestricted free agent. “If you thought in the next five picks he (Bronny) was going to get selected like that’s fine. But they weren’t going to take it,” said the 48-year-old, and drafting him in this scenario was embarrassing.
Calling the whole thing a “charade”, Gottlieb turned his attention to Adrian Wojnarowski who also defended the move over the subject of nepotism. “Adrian Wojnarowski, Woj as he was again somebody I have a tremendous amount of respect for but the defending saying nepotism occurs throughout the NBA… But acting like if nepotism occurs elsewhere the nepotism here is fine.. two wrongs don’t actually make a right you know,” Gottlieb concluded. Following the draft, Wojnarowski slammed the claims of nepotism surrounding Bronny’s pick. According to him, nepotism is rampant in the NBA but people are only talking about it now because Bronny is LeBron’s son.
Woj: “I don’t want to hear the charges, people talking about nepotism. The NBA is full of nepotism. The ownership level, front offices, coaching. I don’t want to hear about it all of a sudden because Bronny James’ father plays for the Lakers. It is rampant in this league.” pic.twitter.com/LW9FI6BLOX

But even amidst all the scrutiny, there’s support for Bronny and backing for the Lakers. And that comes from one of LeBron’s all-time opponents on the court and close friend, Draymond Green.
Warriors star has high hopes for Bronny James
During a recent episode of the Draymond Green Show, the Warriors center touched on the criticism surrounding Bronny James. According to the former DPOY, Bronny will succeed in the league contrary to the majority belief. “I actually think Bronny is going to end up being a better pro than a lot of these players in this draft,” Draymond said. He also backed the former USC guard for possessing the LeBron James genes.

“I’m just gonna take the bet. This kid works hard, he has LeBron James’ DNA, and I’m gonna take the bet on that,” added the veteran. He wasn’t the only one believing in Bronny’s prospect. Fox analyst Chris Broussard also envisioned better-than-expected things for the rookie and backed it up with a Jalen Brunson comparison.

With JJ Redick at the helm for the Lakers, the franchise is already plotting a developmental plan for Bronny. Above all, with his biggest mentor, his father by his side, Bronny has the chance to fend off the negativity with the resilience he has shown thus far.
