3-time All-Star Ben Simmons has been unable to play at an All-Star level since the 2021 Eastern Conference against the Atlanta Hawks. After passing up a wide-open dunk in the closing minutes of Game 7, the Philadelphia 76ers’ fans let Simmons know he was no longer a part of that organization. Once a dominant 6’10” point guard, Ben Simmons can hardly score a basket in an NBA game these days. A lingering back injury and mental blocks because of the Philadelphia slander have been the two major reasons for his recent failure.
But, feeling completely healthy and ready for next season, Ben Simmons made a bold claim in a recent interview with Marc Spears from Andscape. Former NBA executive Amin Elhassan was quick to react to Ben Simmons’ wild claim and mocked him in response.

NBA analyst does not believe Ben Simmons
When asked about Ben Simmons’ expectations for the upcoming season, the 6’10” Point Guard replied, “For me to come back and dominate people will be great.” This was a very ambitious claim from the Brooklyn Nets guard, considering he has been a liability for his team in the recent past, let alone dominate other players. After missing the entire 2021-22 season due to a back injury and the 76ers drama, Simmons played only 42 games last season, averaging single digits in all statistics.
In the latest segment of Oddball, Former NBA executive Amin Elhassan mocked Ben Simmons for his outrageous claim. “My process is HAH!” remarked Amin, talking about how he processes Simmons’ comments. “At this point, nobody wants to hear this guy talk, other than say I am committed and I am ready to do what it takes.” Added the analyst. Amin believes Ben Simmons should not talk about dominating the players when he has not shown any signs of improvement in the last 3 seasons.

Amin’s co-host believes Ben Simmons will make a comeback
As Amin mocked the former Rookie of the Year for his comments, his co-host Charlotte Wilder was more generous towards the 27-year-old guard. She said, “I do think this could be the year that it happens.” With Ben Simmons having enough time to recover from his back injury and work on his mental blocks, fans are hopeful for his comeback season. However, this is not the first time fans have had high expectations from Ben.
After he got traded to Brooklyn for James Harden, analysts and fans believed he would get back to his All-Star form by playing alongside NBA champions Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. But Simmons disappointed his fans by showing no signs of improvement. The inability to take a shot and losing his confidence to even play on the court, Ben Simmons struggled as the world watched.

Hopefully, this year will be the turning point for Ben Simmons. At only 27 years old, Simmons has a lot of time left to turn his career around and be the player people expect him to be. Being compared to Magic and LeBron in the early stages of his career, fans would love to witness the redemption arc of Ben Simmons.
