The LA Lakers’ performance has been disappointing this season. And LeBron James has had to deal with the fallout of their sub-par performances. However, a 3x All-Star has come to the King’s defense, and pointed out the blatant hypocrisy of many fans by using Michael Jordan’s stint with the Wizards as an example.

LeBron James has been a dominant force in the NBA for the past two decades, and he continues to dominate the league well into his 21st season as an NBA professional. Bron continues to defy ‘father-time’, as he aims to win another NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers this season. However, things haven’t gone according to the script for the King and his Kingdom.

The Lakers have been one of the most underwhelming teams this season. After winning the inaugural In-Season tournament, the Lakers have won just four of their next 16 games. Their current performances have come under intense scrutiny from fans and analysts alike. However, in the latest episode of the NightCap, Gilbert Arenas defended LeBron.

During a conversation with co-host Shannon Sharpe, Arenas used MJ’s stint with the Wizards to point out double standards. He said, “When Michael Jordan was playing with the Wizards, they were supposed to be a playoff team. When they were losing, no one talked bad about Michael Jordan. So, why y’all not this for this 39-year-old (LeBron)? Why is he expected to win, when the GOAT didn’t?” Arenas added further, “They (MJ Wizards) had high hopes for that second year and they fell short, and no one blamed Michael Jordan for it because of his age.”

Despite being backed by Arenas, LeBron himself would acknowledge that this season has been a letdown thus far. After their NBA Cup triumph, many fans expected the Lakers to push on and establish themselves as one of the best teams in the league. However, their form since that joyous night has been nothing short of disappointing.
