Entering his fourth season in the NBA, Maxey faces the pressure of leading his side from the backcourt. With debates over his quality, Gilbert Arenas supported him in the latest episode of Gil’s Arena. He backed the shooting guard to become an All-NBA level talent “if he takes 20 shots”.
With possibly “no James Harden,” the “efficient” and “exciting” Tyrese can lead the team from the back. With the backing of coach Nick Nurse, Arenas believed his game looked bound to flourish in the upcoming season. The 41-year-old thus stated, “Having a green light man that gives you a whole another superpower”.
“You don’t have to worry about taking bad shots,” Gilbert mentioned while talking about the perks of it. The 3-time All-Star further highlighted, “You don’t really gotta worry about running offense”. So he pointed out, “I think he could turn around this year and be that spark,” publicly backing Maxey for his qualities.

Can the youngster make it happen?
He has shown promise since stepping into the NBA but his game went through a rapid rise in recent stages. Tyrese averaged over 20 points last season, shooting 48% from the field goal in 60 regular season appearances. As a shooter, he displayed his elite prowess to turn up the intensity whenever the team needed it.
Thus, Coach Nurse was open to allowing his youngster the freedom he probably needed for a long time. Till now, Maxey has been dependable in the post-season phases too. Averaging over 20 in both of the last two playoff campaigns, his defensive game improved in those crunch times.
