Klay Thompson, the Splash brother of Stephen Curry, was not in the best place mentally for a few seasons now. It could have started in 2020 when he tore his Achilles right after he came back from rehab for a torn ACL. Or maybe even before. The time doesn’t matter. What should matter is how the 5x NBA All-Star feels now.

Thompson’s love for basketball started young, like many others. But what sets him apart is his famous “The Klay Thompson Experience”. But his mental struggle had practically depleted the essential Klay-ness in him. This summer, though, looks bright for the Warriors guard.

Thompson has two loves in his life – basketball and ocean. The ocean love definitely comes from the island life. He is a very grounded person, staying true to his roots and never forgetting where he comes from. That must be what finally got him out of the rabbit hole he’s been in.

Talking in the NBA Radio Season Preview show, Klay assures his fans that he has no “championship hangover this summer … this is the best I’ve physically felt in years … and I’m just really excited to show the world I’m still capable of greatness.”

The love for Klay Thompson spans across the globe. He didn’t earn the nickname “China Klay” for nothing. The inspiration he gets from his fans in China motivates him to this day. On the Warriors’ media day, he recounts his experience of visiting China last summer. “I got to see that again this past summer when I went with ANTA. It was really special and cool to connect with fans in China and the Philippines. I gained so much motivation from that trip.”

It won’t be wrong to say the Chinese fans played a major role in getting Klay back on his feet. With his return and renewed energy, can we expect the Splash Brothers to lead the Warriors to a title?

Standing on an equal footing with King James in the rings won, Chef Curry and his sous-chefs are determined to get their fifth title. It won’t be an easy race for either of them. If Curry beats James, it won’t look good for him. On the other hand, if LeBron gets the title, well, that is expected of him. He is the King and the Chosen One. So, it’s as natural as, say, the sun rises in the East.

Speaking to Dennis Scott about preparing to get the 5th title, Stephen Curry mentions a few pointers that they will keep in mind when going into practice and eventually the regular season. The most obvious one is the lessons that they can take from the last year, but there is something even more important. It is to get emotionally and physically recharged.

Curry must have had his long-time friend, Klay, in his mind when he said this. He saw firsthand the struggles Thompson went through. He also mentioned how everybody will be coming after them this year and though the challenge is welcome, it is equally important to reengage emotionally with the journey they took.
