Joel Embiid has been having a phenomenal season, garnering a career-high average of 35.3 points and 5.7 steals, leading the league in offense. Unsurprisingly, the reigning MVP was also named as an Eastern Conference starter for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game. Despite having a great season, Embiid has been dealing with various injuries, having already missed 13 out of the Sixers‘ 46 games so far.
The team had announced on Thursday that Embiid sustained a lateral meniscus injury on his left knee, confirming that he will not be available until after the weekend. Meantime, a treatment plan is being finalized. Amidst this crisis, Embiid has been receiving hate from fans and analysts alike for his inability to stay healthy. However, LeBron James comes to the rescue, trashing everyone who threw shade at Embiid for missing so many games before realizing the severity of the injury. Check out the X posts Bron made in support of Embiid.
Where are all the media outlets, tv media personalities, hot takes that talked so much 💩 about Joel Embiid about missing those games when he knew what he was dealing with.

Embiid suffered the injury on Tuesday during the 119-107 loss against the Warriors. With a little more than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Warriors‘ Jonathan Kuminga landed on Embiid’s left leg. It didn’t take long for the MVP to leave the game, clocking in 14 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. He missed Thursday night’s game against the Utah Jazz. All things considered, Embiid’s chances for a consecutive MVP are depleting.

Joel Embiid is treading on thin ice considering that he has already missed 13 games. The NBA’s rule dictates that a player must play at least 65 of the 82 regular season games to be considered for end-of-season awards. Embiid is set to miss Saturday’s game against the Nets. This means that he can only miss three more games before being disqualified from a potential back-to-back MVP title. Looking at how things are right now, he might end up being ineligible for the MVP race.
That would be a shame, considering the level of excellence at which Embiid has been playing this season. He achieved a career-high 70 points on 22nd January against the Spurs, leading the Sixers to their sixth back-to-back win. When healthy, The Process has been performing better than his 2022-23 MVP season.
