Recently, on Gilbert Arena’s podcast, the hosts delved into the infamous incident that occurred nine months ago during the Golden State Warriors training camp when Draymond Green punched Jordan Poole. This altercation resulted in Poole eventually being traded away from the team. The situation was further complicated when Poole’s father criticized Green on Twitter, adding fuel to the ongoing discussion surrounding the incident.
During the conversation, Arenas brought an interesting perspective on the incident. He expressed concern about the lack of support from other players during the altercation. They questioned why no one intervened to diffuse the conflict or prevent it from getting worse. The intensity of the discussion and the potential that something said discouraged others from intervening sparked rumors. The hosts thought about the possible repercussions of Green and Poole’s verbal sparring and how it might have affected the teammates’ choice to stay out of it.
One host pointed out, “If it was Steph, Klay’s gonna jump in.”?
While another host added, “If we watch that video again, teammates were very reluctant to get involved, which either leaves me to believe that what they heard was... “Damn, you deserve that'”?
Arenas expressed shock, and stated, “The fact that nobody [stopped them]… If there’s a fight, we all grab the most aggressive person, and nobody [Intervened].. nobody?” ?“What are we missing here? What was said so bad, that the rest of the players were like, ‘I ain’t getting that.” He added.
The NBA veteran definitely raised a question for Stephen Curry and the Warriors team asking why didn’t they intervene when they were seeing the brawl.
