Wrestlemania XL is in full swing, and all eyes are on the ‘showcase of the immortals.’ The grandest WWE event of the year commenced in Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday. The Night 1 card had several highly-anticipated matches, including a tag match featuring HoF’er Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio. While everyone expected it to be an exciting match, not many expected to see Eagles veterans, Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson to assist Rey in getting a win! The NFL stars’ surprise interference even shocked New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson.
Also, a die-hard Eagles fan, Brunson, was hyped after the grand reveal and tweeted, “Kelce and Johnson at Wrestlemania made my night.” As Rey Mysterio and Andrade faced Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar in a tag match, two masked men jumped the barricade to assault Dominik while the referee was not looking. This led to Rey and Andrade getting a win. While they celebrated their victory, the two intruders unmasked themselves. The Philly crowd went into a frenzy as they saw their NFL heroes, Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson, behind the mask.

Earlier this month, Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons with the Eagles. So, it was extra special for Jalen Brunson and the Philly fans to witness their 2018 Super Bowl winners one more time. Brunson even shared a photograph of Jason Kelce on his Instagram story after he announced his retirement. The caption read, “The greatest to ever do it.”
Jalen Brunson’s undying fandom for the Philadelphia Eagles
Even though Jalen Brunson plays for the New York Knicks, he has never hidden his fandom for the Philadelphia Eagles. The New Jersey native has deep ties with Philly as he won a National Championship in Villanova the same year the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Brunson has been spotted sporting the jerseys of several current and former Eagles stars throughout his career. Last January, Brunson entered Madison Square Garden wearing a Jalen Hurts jersey before the game. Brunson said, “I’m sure Twitter is probably going crazy.”

Brunson’s love for the Eagles was public long before he became an All-Star. In his early days with the Dallas Mavericks, Brunson expressed his appreciation for former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. Brunson posted a picture with the Eagles legend on Instagram and wrote, “Man this guy was my idol as a little kid from South Jersey! I don’t care what any of y’all say he’s one of the GOATs!! 🐐🐐”
