The NFL world caught LeBron James lacking and they don’t seem to take it lightly. Tonight, there’s literally no noise around the NBA world, as the Super Bowl has taken over the sporting world. The Philadelphia Eagles have come into the showdown strong and the defending champions’ dream to produce the first-ever three-peat in the SB era went into shambles. Amid this situation, the Lakers superstar had the chance to take a bit of credit for the Philly side’s unexpected run. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Y’all remember when the Lakers visited Philadelphia to take on the 76ers and suffered a humiliating defeat. It was right after the Eagles decimated the Washington Commanders in the Conference Finals. Riding on championship spirits, the Philly players took over the court ahead of the tip-off, witnessing Bron’s shoot-around.

Recognizing the players, the 4x Champ went on to greet some of them. He dapped up with AJ Brown & DeVonta Smith and also acknowledged Darius Slay. Unfortunately, he missed out on acknowledging the 22-year-old star, Cooper DeJean. Realizing his mistake, Bron issued an explanation via IG, writing, “I have previous relationships with the other guys! Wasn’t a snub at all. Cooper, you’re a stud brother, and best of luck in the Super Bowl! Go be great.”

Fast forward to tonight, it was the rookie, who stole the night, intercepting Patrick Mahomes and scoring on a pick-six. That was it. Fans were all over it and James paid the price. Even the explanation couldn’t save him.

NFL world tracks down LeBron James after the Cooper DeJean Super Bowl takeover

If LeBron James was facing any backlash, it’s quite easier to spot Skip Bayless in and around the spot. He’s a professional King James hater and tonight, he didn’t miss out on the opportunity. The veteran analyst took to his X handle and dropped a post in all caps, writing, “HEY, LEBRON, THAT GUY WHO JUST PICK SIXED MAHOMES … HIS NAME IS COOPER DEJEAN. MAYBE HE DOESN’T LOOK LIKE HE CAN PLAY CORNERBACK IN THE NFL, BUT HE’S ON HIS WAY TO BEING A STAR OF A STUD! 17-0 FLY, EAGLES, FLY.”

Well, that’s a post that won’t miss anyone’s attention. Following Bayless, some of the fans were eager to rub it on the superstar’s face. The short video clip of James’ interaction with the Eagles player after the 76ers game was proof that the 4x MVP was rooting for the team. He met the crew on his way to the parking lot, clicked pictures with everyone, and even dropped a piece of advice, which was “No turnovers.” It could have probably played a role in their W.

Despite this wholesome gesture, some still cling to the Cooper Dejean snub. A fan wrote, “LeBron probably regrets not dapping up Cooper DeJean now.” Of course, he would. James expressed his regret right after DeJean spoke about the snub at a presser. On the other hand, this fan wrote, “LeBron James definitely knows who Cooper DeJean is now.” While it’s an impressive way to get back at the Lakers forward, he clearly mentioned that he didn’t dap him on purpose and even called the rookie a “stud”.

Did LeBron's snub light a fire under Cooper DeJean, leading to his Super Bowl heroics?

Have an interesting take?

At the same time, some fans came to the rescue of the NBA legend, arguing that James didn’t notice the 22-year-old at the courtside. A fan wrote, “You think LeBron James noticed Cooper DeJean there?” Well, it’s hard to say with the video available on the internet. DeJean was standing next to teammates, and he failed to catch Bron’s attention. Moreover, according to a fan, it was a blessing in disguise, as they decoded the DeJean’s performance, writing, “Thank you LeBron James for igniting a fire in Cooper Dejean and the Fellas.”

While the fans were behind James, DeJean himself responded to the dapping incident at the press. He said, “I’m a LeBron fan so it’s tough. I didn’t really expect him to know who I was or say hi to me so it’s all good .” Now that the Eagles have breached the Chiefs’ fortress, fans might forget Bron’s lapse. What do you think?
