‘Explain LeBron James’ career’s last lap in NFL terms’. Before you come at me for speaking about Bron’s retirement early, I promise you that you’re in for an exciting read. We often find these kinds of comments under various social media posts. Fans put their creative juice to use and send out fitting responses. In the same vein, I came across this insane cross-sport comparison involving King James and NFL legend Tom Brady. Importantly, it served as a perfect reply to the Lakers’ rival’s latest taunt.
The Bron and AD era is officially over and the LA side has moved into the Luka Doncic-LeBron James era. Since the trade, the 25-year-old generational talent hasn’t found his rhythm but has shown promising signs in the new association. And, the veteran analyst Colin Cowherd advised the fans not to worry, as he said, “He’s playing himself back into shape… His jumper right now is short consistently, that’s like cardio, that’s legs.”
Just as he made a confident statement about the Slovenian guard, his attention shifted to LeBron James. The 40-year-old is considered the weakest link between the duo, except he isn’t. That’s exactly what Cowherd wanted to prove. The 61-year-old analyst picked up Tom Brady’s NFL career as a yardstick to make his case.

It was the time when ‘TB12’ left the Patriots after nearly two decades of service and played for the Buccaneers. Despite the name he made for himself, he was touted as an underdog because of his age (43) and questions regarding his ability to win the Super Bowl without Bill Belichick. Above all, strong emotions were favoring the rise of new superstar Patrick Mahomes.
Brady’s GOAT title was at stake and fittingly, he faced Mahomes in the Super Bowl LIV. Guess what? “Brady beat him twice in Arrowhead (stadium) and overtime and the Super Bowl. Tom Brady reminding you, ‘Yeah, it goes through me,” said Cowherd with conviction. He didn’t stop at that.
The analyst drew a parallel to James’ career and said, “LeBron is reminding everybody right now, ‘Yeah, for 10 years the East went through me… Now the West is going to go through me.'” Yes, before moving to the West, Akron Hammer spent some time in the East playing for the Cavs & Heat, winning three rings.
Without a doubt, it’s an insane correlation. But will it be enough to shut down the latest criticism of the Lakers duo? Let’s find out.
Lakers’ biggest rival trashed LeBron James-Luka Doncic union
The Lakers may have plenty of rivals, but it’s always the Celtics that stand as the worthy opponent. Right from the Magic-Bird and Kobe-Pierce eras, it has continued till now. While the current stars like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown rarely get involved in the rivalry, a Celtics legend didn’t hesitate to budge in. It’s none other than the former NBA Champ, Paul Pierce.

So, the latest debate in the NBA world is about the Lakers’ recent blockbuster trade. Of course, why not? It’s a historic trade where a team traded away their fairly young generational talent to a legacy franchise. It’s not something that happens every year. Most importantly, the trade has put Los Angeles right into the conversations and regarded LeBron James-Luka Doncic as one of the lethal duos of the league.

While some agreed with the statement, Pierce, who had recently joined Fox Sports, trashed the duo on live TV. “They’re not the best duel, you know? They certainly are the biggest two names together,” said the legend, acknowledging their individual success. So, who is the best duo according to ‘The Truth’?
“The best duel is Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, we all know,” he stated in a non-negotiable tone.
Pierce further argued that the Celtic duo was the best, as they had “just won a championship”. Not to critique him, but it’s a weak argument. It only means that Luka and Bron have to win the title this season to fetch that title. However, the man pointed out that his choice was also based on the history any two players have (Jokic and Murray was his next example) and everything they have done together to reach that championship point.
